The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund endorsed Rep. Betsy Markey,
D-Colo. for re-election this November.
NRA Chief Lobbyist Chris Cox said in a news release that Markey will defend the Second Amendment rights of Colorado gun owners and has demonstrated those rights by her vote for legislation to restore self-defense rights in the nation's capital.
Betsy has a strong record of supporting Second Amendment rights and has been a tireless advocate for Colorado's hunters and sportsmen. With roughly 11,000 members in the 4th Congressional District, we're very glad to have their endorsement, said Ben Marter, a spokesman for Markey's campaign.
Markey faces Republican challenger Cory Gardner and two other candidates in the Nov. 2 election.
I found this article, which quotes GOP contender Cory Gardner's spokeswoman, Rachel Boxer, as saying "The NRA has a 'strict incumbent endorsement policy.'" I would have to concur with that assessment.
And as I note in a previous post on this thread, that's not a good policy.
What good are gun rights if the Democrats tax and spend us to death and ruin our country in the process, not to mention destroying our moral values.
The next NRA election will be interesting.
The current leadership doesn’t understand the Culture War we’re fully engaged in.
Sarah’s advice to Rove at yesterday’s dinner would equally apply to the NRA leadership.
Very well said and you get to the heart of the matter. When the potential endorsee is part of the anti-RKBA party, you cannot be blind to the harm that a party-line vote can cause. Unless there is a record showing RKBA will come before party, then you have the tie-breaking data to not endorse.
The next NRA election will be much like nearly all the elections since the “Cincinnati Rebellion.” After that scare the “Ruling Class” of the NRA (yes, they have one) changed the rules so that now the members only get to vote for Tweedledum or Tweedledummer.
Remember the Director who stated publically that ordinary citizens didn’t need military-style weapons? Remember the hue and cry for his head on a platter? He got re-elected. It’s always that way too. The only way it will ever change is for something drastic to happen. Perhaps if the membership were to go from four million to two million while that of the GOA were to swell by a similar amount they would change their ways.
I don’t know but I’ve done my part.
I can’t believe there could be any nra shills here.
Who elected these commie INFILTRATORS?
Who is Chris Cox? I thought he was a good guy.
We’re getting way to many of this sort of thing.
But who didn’t expect it?
We didn’t up our renewals. This really sucks.
It's not lately. The gun-banning Left has quietly and efficiently over the past 30 years gotten themselves elected to NRA slots and then brought-in fellow travelers. The NRA has become largely useless.
But is it possible that the NRA reached a deal with her previously to which they are now honor bound? She has been very supportive of Second Amendment rights and opposeed the renewal of the so-called assault weapons ban.
Just asking.
Nothing new here they've been stabbing true believers in the 2nd amendment in the back for as long as I can remember.
