Sarah Palin may be edging closer to a 2012 presidential run, telling Fox News "I would give it a shot" if the American people think she's "the one."
The former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee was in Des Moines, Iowa, Friday for the Reagan Dinner, a big GOP fundraiser in the heart of water-testing country for presidential candidates.
Palin has remained coy about her ambitions, but she elaborated a bit in an interview with Fox News, attaching several conditions to the possibility of a 2012 presidential run.
"If the American people were to be ready for someone who is willing to shake it up, and willing to get back to time-tested truths, and help lead our country towards a more prosperous and safe future and if they happen to think I was the one, if it were best for my family and for our country, of course I would give it a shot," she said.
"But I'm not saying that it's me. I know I can certainly make a difference without having a title. I'm having a good time doing exactly that right now."
Palin, a Fox News contributor and best-selling author since leaving the governor's mansion last year, has become one of the Tea Party movement's biggest allies. She's also thrown her clout around in the GOP primary season with a string of endorsements.
She said in February that she'd be "willing" to take on President Obama in two years, and White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Friday he suspects she's testing the water.

“give it a shot”
That ought to set off a few liberals in multiple ways.
no thanks
Didn’t she back McCain in the primary?
LOL
At times I have felt that Palin just isn't experienced enough (I definitely felt that way about Obama, for the record), so if she doesn't win the nod, or even if she doesn't run, I hope she helps a Paul Ryan learn how to attack the President. Anybody but Mitt/McCain/RINO, and I'll be happy. So ... GO SARAH!!!
Well, actually it’s the Republican elite who are cursing conservatives.
Guess what the ratio is in numbers, conservatives to Republican elite. Probably 99.999 to 1 or higher.
It’s the RINOs in congress pluse Rove, Krauthammer and Kristol. A handful more, from this country club or that.
Their only strength is access to the media. And what credibility they haven’t killed with comments like Rove’s this week, will go the way of the dying media.
but but but ... the Leftist scum medjia said she was finished when she quit her job as governor of Alaska
I’m in.
Palin is going to have to deliver victories for her candidates on November 2nd.
If she doesn’t, her stock will drop like a rock.
All eyes will be on O’Donnell, particularly.
O’Donnell doesn’t have to win, just get above 40%.
She’s going to do well, maybe not win, but in a wave year, do well for Delaware.
Best,
Chris
She is just what this country needs!
I’ll donate.
I would say this is big news.
The first time she said offically she is running.
Independents and Reagan Dems are way more likely to vote for
her ‘10 picks if they think she’ll be in the DC mix to keep it the way she envisions it.
Palin/Rove 2012.
Let’s make the liberal hate machine’s head explode.
He will be look like Uncle Ben ..
I really like Palin, but I prefer her in the role she has now. Just seems that people like Palin and Beck are really good at getting information to the people. We’ll see, at least we know there shouldn’t be any surprises this time if she runs, as she isn’t ‘new’ anymore, and the dirt digging should hopefully be done with.
Pretty much how I feel.
But she’d better do more than just give it a shot.
She needs to enunciate clearly as the Great Communicator did.
LOL. Too skinny.
