O'Donnell up 47-44 over Castle, in PPP poll!
Public Policy Polling ^ | 9/12/10 | dfergu7477

Posted on 09/12/2010 6:48:53 PM PDT by dfergu7477

Raleigh, N.C. – It looks like there’s a real possibility of a major upset in the Delaware Senate primary on Tuesday night, with insurgent conservative Christine O’Donnell leading longtime Congressman and Governor Mike Castle 47-44. That 3 point lead is well within the poll’s margin of error. If Castle is indeed defeated Tuesday night it will be yet another sign that conservatives have a strangle hold on the Republican Party and moderates may or may not be welcome anymore. Castle has an overwhelming 69-21 lead with moderate voters but they only make up 33% of the likely primary electorate. O’Donnell has a 62-31 lead with conservatives that’s more than enough to propel her to the overall lead. It’s clear that Castle’s popularity has taken a sharp turn in the wrong direction over the last month. An August PPP poll found his favorability with Delaware Republicans at a 60/25 spread. Now his favorables within the party are negative at 43/47. That’s largely a product of 55% of voters in his party saying they think he’s too liberal compared to 37% who think he’s about right. GOP voters are pretty sharply divided about O’Donnell as well. 45% have a favorable opinion of her with 41% seeing her unfavorably. Only 50% of primary voters think she’s fit to hold public office but she does much better than Castle on the ideology front- 53% think she’s about right. If O’Donnell pulls it out Tuesday night it will be a major victory for Delaware’s small but united group of Tea Party voters. Just 25% of Republicans in the state consider themselves to be members of that movement but they give her a 79-18 advantage that’s more than enough to overcome her 52-39 deficit with everyone else.

“When O’Donnell LOSES what should have been an easy GOP pickup by Mike Castle, we’ll be sorry...”

Get with the program. Your old tired elect any RINO, just to have a seat is the past. It ain’t playing today.

Like Jim Demint. I would rather have 30 conservatives, than 60 RINOS.

We gave the likes of you the majority with all your RINOs in
the house and senate and where did that get us? MINORITY Status!

Oh wow, thank you. Save that. I’m going to also, but I lose stuff I save, no matter how hard I try to remember where I save it and how I title it.

I’m telling you...the mantra is to kick the bums out but they hang on more tenaciously than a tick on a fat bull dog.

Look at all this they’re doing for Mike Castle, a man who doesn’t deserve an ounce of time.

Then when the conservative do win...like Charlie Crist and Murkowski....THEY WON’T GO AWAY!

They go on to third parties...I hear Murkowski’s thinking of third party.

Dear Lord why can’t the Mike Castle people just nicely accept the fact that he gambled and pushed his supporters once too far? I think it was Cap and Trade that was the last straw.

We’ve been grumbling about him for the seven years I’ve lived in Delaware now and all we hear is...”just support him one more time”.

And he keeps doing it and we keep getting mad. So we lawfully decide to unelect the guy and jeesh, why can’t they just go away graciously?

Castle could have, just throwing it out there so y’all know he had a choice for God’s sake...he could have voted AGAINST Cap and Trade, not been one of only two pubs in the House to vote in favor of that awful DISCLOSE act, agreed to work on overturning that health care bill which no, he didn’t vote FOR it, but no more than one day later he vowed he would not support repeal...the next day...the very NEXT day. He could have voted to SUPPORT the Iraqi surge, just a thought, he could have voted against tax dollars going for foetal stem cell research...well damn right here I’m only through his last two years.

He had a freaking choice already for God’s sake. They think they should vote however the hell they want and by golly they’ll fix anybody who should DARE to run against him, by golly, and I’ll get my tiny army of boot lickers to mock you and call you pathetic.

These RINOS are worse almost than the Dems. At least the Dems are resigned to losing seats for their awful votes. The RINOS double damn dare you to question their royalty.

The crosstabs in the poll make no sense.

3x as many liberals have a favorable view of Odonnell than moderates!

Twice as many liberals will vote for her than moderates!

Oh well, the race probably IS on the edge.

Try Evernote. It might help. It'll give you a searchable database of what you save. If you take pictures with text in them, it even searches text inside the picture. There is a Firefox addon that lets you clip directly from the web to Evernote, so you can save anything you want and file it as you wish.

Coons is basically unopposed so that last few weeks all the public have seen are the negative attacks on both sides of the Republican primary.

This doesn’t affect Castle as much as he is already a known entity but it does affect people’s opinion of O’Donnell whom they’ve only started to hear about.

Once O’Donnell wins the primary, she’ll get a boost just based on that, she’ll also be able to run a campaign against Coons where for the first time in this election cycle voters will hear about the negatives of Coons.

I’ve worked on political campaigns, and I tell you the hypothetical general elections match ups before a primary is over mean absolutely nothing. The winner will almost always simply be the guy among the primary candidates who has the most name recognition.

Yeah I think everyone here needs to take PPP with a grain of salt. I’ll never forget how they had Hoffman up 20 points before the election. Consider this good news but dont get TOO excited

we’ll be sorry...

Speak for yourself on that one. I believe Christine will be a much stronger candidate in November than Castle would be. No matter. Castle would be far worse for America than Chris Coon's, the Dem. Castle would provide the "bipartisan" cover Obama would need to complete his "fundamental transformation." A Senator Castle would increase the chance of a second Obama term. Coons would only be a junior nobody. Better in my book to have an evil puppet than an evil puppet-master in office.

Yeah, tip of my hat to you BC. You do a nice job of being pragmatic and rational.

The Castle people are out to get you.

And remember, just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you.
