Citing "Mental Anguish," Christine O'Donnell Sought $6.9 Million in Gender Discrimination Lawsuit
Weekly Standard ^ | 9/12/10 | John McCormack

Posted on 09/12/2010 10:11:56 AM PDT by truthandlife

Court documents obtained Saturday by THE WEEKLY STANDARD reveal surprising new details about the gender discrimination and wrongful termination lawsuit filed by Christine O'Donnell in 2005 against her former employer, the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, a conservative non-profit based in Delaware.* O'Donnell, who is now challenging moderate congressman Mike Castle in the September 14 Delaware GOP Senate primary, sought $6.95 million in damages. In a court complaint, she extensively detailed the "mental anguish" she suffered after allegedly being demoted and fired because of her gender. And, although she didn't have a bachelor's degree until this year, O'Donnell implied she was taking Master's degree classes at Princeton University in 2003.

O'Donnell alleged in a July 1, 2005 complaint filed in district court that she had been demoted because ISI's conservative philosophy dictated that women must be subordinate to men. She claimed she was fired when she contacted the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission regarding her demotion. ISI told the Delaware News Journal that she had been "terminated for operating a for-profit business."

O'Donnell's finances, honesty, and stability have been called into question in light of her false and strange claims. The court complaint raises further questions on all fronts. O'Donnell, who made an annual salary of $65,000 at ISI as director of communications and public affairs, sought up to $6,952,477 million in damages, claiming, among other allegations, that ISI had defamed her and had violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. O'Donnell sought:

--Up to $3,952,447 in "Direct Damages, including back pay" and "lifetime lost income and liftetime damage to reputation."

Let’s remember that this is The Weekly Standard led by New World Order neocons Bill Kristol and Fred Barnes. They are leaders of status quo GOPism.

wow he sure has some low figures.
his truely vile vote was the one involving supporting an investigation of GW Bush over the Iraqi war. that was the last straw.

“to haunt Palin and others who just endorsed O’Donnell.”

That includes DeMint. If true, these allegations could have a negative impact on her ability to win. A question for the masses: Is a neurotic legitimate conservative better than a slimy professional progressive politician?

Not saying she’s neurotic, just asking, what if.

the dc beltway Dem party run media knows what is going on here.
they want to keep K street obedient subservient McConnnell leading the GOP into second place every time . Under McConnel brilliant leadership the GOP has lost control over the senate and Obama has rammed thru almost his entire radical Marxist agenda without much trouble. Under Demint leadership , Brown , Snowne, McCain and Collins antics would not be tolerated and the Senate would become civil war with Dems stopped in their tracks .

The Judiciary Committee Chairman has no power to keep nominees from getting out of committee.

Many Republicans believe in voting for Democrat nominees in order to “be fair to the other side”.

It’s the OTHER SIDE that refuses to vote for OUR nominees.

It’s crap like this that led me to stop reading the Weekly Standard a couple of years ago. They’re simply a mouthpiece for the GOP establishment. They’re not really conservative so much as they are Republican. I’m a Republican who’s fighting to make my party more conservative...I don’t need throwbacks like the Weakly Standard.

"How do you know that she didn’t get tired of the freaking ridiculous amount of time and money...a lawsuit takes and back out..."

This was a workplace discrimination case. Trial lawyers take these on a contingency basis, meaning that if she really had a case, trial lawyers would be jumping at the chance to represent her for free. The fact that they weren't tells me there was little or no merit in her complaint.

I never said Castle was my candidate, and nothing in my posts even hint at that. You’re just jumping to conclusions. I’m just saying O’Donnell is flaky. Shows the low state of the Delaware GOP when the only people they can get to run are RINO Castle and FLAKE O’Donnell.

This is old hat....

An all-too predictable tactic of the "ruling class--" America's "Power Elite." (Remember the old 1956 term made famous by the Saul Alinski of his day, C. Wright Mills?)

And by the way.

The Hill reports that the NRA is backing Christine O'Donnell in the Delaware Senate race—not a huge surprise considering Mike Castle's “F” rating from the NRA (of course, there won't actually be any serious anti-gun legislation that comes up for a vote in the next Congress).

Meanwhile, Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina endorses O'Donnell on Twitter:

I'm proud to endorse Christine O'Donnell for US Senate in Delaware. She will stand strong for the principles of freedom.

The purpose of this last minute smear is to keep people in Delaware from voting for Christine O’Donnell tomorrow.

Negative campaigning is designed to suppress votes for the candidate under attack.

My response to the smearing of Christine is like this.

I can think of many people admired and loved who had problems in their past like Glenn Beck the drug addict, Rush Limbaugh popping pills and now on his fourth wife,
Sarah Palin married Todd in a civil ceremony somewhat less than nine months before their child was born, Martin Luther King’s sex life of one night stands with hookers etc. etc.

Heck, Clarence Thomas wrote in his autobiography of the shame he has for abandoning his first wife and child back in the 1980’s.

Wow, Ronald Reagan was married twice.

So I guess all those people should be disgraced, ignored and not hold any office, position or command any respect.

Send the RINO’s a message Delaware and vote for Christine tomorrow.

it is boilerplate language in any injury suit.

it is like asking for damages over a dollar amount in order to satisfy the jurisdiction requirement.

You already know the article is slanted when ANYONE calls Castle a “moderate” Castle is a liberal. Social Fiscal and all of the liberal above.

Exactly, what does the Bible say about “throwing stones”?

They are trying to smear this woman from what I’ve seen, a bunch of gutless, yellow-bellied pansies who want us to play nice with the Dems so they can get invited to the right parties.

Oh JOY! The GOP riding to the rescue once again; determined to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory!

You damnable RINO SOBs GTF outta here, pack up your frackin’ statist rhetoric and get in line with the Libs for your one-way trip on that down-bound train.

WE, The People do NOT need ANY more of what the establishment GOP has to offer. NOT A WHIT.

it is boilerplate language in such suits.

Is anyone thinking the suit may actually have been valid?

It is worth questioning all these inside the betway publications. They have to protect established RINOs in order to protect their access. How many are just another Melman?

Can any sane person doubt that we would be better represented in Congress if we randomly chose 535 people out of the phone book?

no there are formulas for the valuation of such damages. Each case has a dollar value that can be assigned.

Rememeber the ford pinto. Ford bean counters calculated the cost of the deaths vs the cost of the fix. The bean counters said cost of death was cheeper. The courts applied a difference calculation.

Same with smoking suits.
Same with med mal suits.
Same with toxic poison suits.

Don’t confuse boiler plate demands lawyers put in every suit with the final POST APPEAL actual pay out.
