If we are going to join in the chorus of those who condemn him for this act, then we have to realize that we are joining in with the likes of Obama, Eric Holder, Hillary Clinton and Osama Bin Laden.

That is an extreme statement that doesn't hold water, P-Marlowe.

There are many Biblical principles that support opposing this irresponsible attention-grabbing act, and it has nothing to do with supporting the political left, and especially not Islamo-fascism.

The fact that he supports the very non-Christian Fred Phelps is further proof that this is a bad actor doing a bad thing.

As for your pinging me yesterday, the fact that a Pope burned the Torah doesn't exactly support your position with principle either.

Book burning may be a protected act under the Constitution, but all protected speech is not something we, as conservatives, and as Christians should support.

Book burning is a BAD idea, and now we know that the people doing it are not the kind of people we can support.

It does hold water. The point was that politics makes for strange bedfellows.

While those who support the idea of having a Koranic bonfire to commemorate 9/11 happen to be on the same side of this issue with Pastor Jones(who happens to like Fred Phelps), those on the other side of the issue (those that are condemning the burning of the Koran as a "dangerous" or foolhardy act) are actually joining in the chorus with the likes of Obama, Hillary, Eric Holder and basically all the terrorists who have issued death threats against Jones.

Tell me, Ohio, have you seen any media reports which indicate that the FBI or Homeland Security are actually investigating the hundreds of death threats against Jones? What do you want to bet that, if anything, they are actually investigating Jones himself?

Book burning is a BAD idea

Why?

It is symbolic. It hurts no one (unless some of the burning ashes land in your eye).

The early Christian church held a public book burning as noted in Acts 19.

FWIW the first public burning of copies of the Koran were done by Muslims in order to purge the Koran of the "Satanic Verses" which supposedly were dictated to Mohammad by Satan instead of by Allah (apparently Mohammad had trouble distinguishing between Satan's voice and Allah's voice [not that there was any difference]).

I’m awaiting confirmation of the Westboro accusation.

Early on in this CAIR passed misinformation that Jones had had a child porn charge in the past....turned out to be untrue. Does CAIR = Committee Arab Islamic Relations...or something like that.

Either way, the need to burn a host of books, to demonstrate freedom, and among them a koran, is still a good idea.

It’s just paper and ink. We don’t worship the bible. I’d even put a bible in the bonfire to underscore the point.
