Why?
It is symbolic. It hurts no one (unless some of the burning ashes land in your eye).
The early Christian church held a public book burning as noted in Acts 19.
FWIW the first public burning of copies of the Koran were done by Muslims in order to purge the Koran of the "Satanic Verses" which supposedly were dictated to Mohammad by Satan instead of by Allah (apparently Mohammad had trouble distinguishing between Satan's voice and Allah's voice [not that there was any difference]).
There is nothing in Acts 19 or any other passage of Scripture that supports burning any book you don't like.

Perhaps the govt. (left-wing or right-wing) should have big bonfire-book burning rallies and burn every book they don`t like.
