Potential Candidates To Succeed Mayor Daley
As Mayor Daley rocked the political establishment on Tuesday by announcing that we wont seek a seventh term, several potential candidates have been flirting with the idea of running for mayor in recent months, notably among them White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.
In April, Emanuel told Charlie Rose on PBS that if Daley did not run, One day I would like to run for mayor of the city of Chicago. Thats always been an aspiration of mine even when I was in the House of Representatives.
If they elect Rahm, they deserve what they get!
Any chance of a viable conservative candidate?

Rahm said it about six months+ ago - he wanted to be mayor. They had to ‘convince’ Daley first. They can’t blame Blago on this one.
Luckily, searching for a sleazebag in Chicago is much much easier than searching for an honest man or woman. Anyone on the dim-bulb-crat voting records would do.
And, they’d do whether or not they are still alive.
I’d be surprised if it won’t be another Daley
From one corrupt, power-hungry Elitist RAT politician to another RAT feces.
Hard to say, Chicago has been so dominated by the Daley machine, it is impossible to say which way the voters would go. You have generations that have voted only Democrat, Usually a Republican candidate is some schlub who doesn’t have a political carreer to worry about. With the current GOP leadership in Springfield, it’s gonna take a “palace coup” to even try to do anything differently.
somebody should make a movie about putting a great big wall around Chicago.
Rahm or Valerie Jarrett.
Then Rahm can continue the fine tradition of raping and pillaging the land. They may as well bring Satan himself into the fold.
I don’t live there, but I would send money for Mike Ditka to run.
I was born and raised in the city, north side, and even was registered as a Republican there--a rare bird then, and even rarer now.
Having lived in Illinois for 46 years before fleeing to the much more conservative friendly state of Alabama, sadly, the answer is no.
Even the republicans in Cook County are more liberal then blue dog democrats in Alabama. So that kinda makes the odds of gettting a real conservative out of the question- or at the very least a long shot.
You should hear some of the other potential names they are already throwing out there- including multiple members of Jesse Jackson’s family.
I know people who live in Chicago who vote solidly Republican in non-local elections, but vote Democrat in local ones, because they assume that those in power knows how they vote and because they like having continued city services (like having their garbage collected).
Never let a good crisis go to waste!
Why? It’s a world class city.
Rahm will escape the sinking boat Obama.
Well—I’m glad I’m where I am—deep in the heart of Texas! I’m afraid I’d have a stroke with every election in Chicago—LOL!
I’ve been to Chicago three times in the last 4 years for vacations.
Those fools elect emanuel I’ll boycott the Ccity, Uno’s and the Cubs til he’s in jail or gone.
St. Louis here I come, Go Cards.
