Watch for a black potential candidate making a move very swiftly. There's a lot of them waiting in the wings...for years, many of them.

Ronald Burris, Jesse Jackson Jr.....others will be salivating.

Remember, Chicago has always controlled the state legislature plus the statewide general election vote.

True, very true ... but does it matter if Rahm wants to toss JJJ under the bus, or strike a deal. ;)

Oy! LOL.

Hmmm .. that makes one think that Fitzie
and Holder could be bigger catalysts to
that either outcome there.

And remember, the Blago retrial starts in
January .. and there’s a LOT of unplayed
cards in that deck.

Hohoho .. Fitzmas may come late, but it may
yet come .. LOL ..

A union boss slush fund. He’s making sure all these union stooges are paid in full just in time for the midterm election. Just part two of his American Recession and Redistribution Act. Needlessly spending $50B more to keep the unemployment rate below 8 percent.

Bloomberg wouldn’t be a chief of staff kinda guy—but there seems to be some flirtation with replacing Geithner.

Many have wondered in recent years whether Fitzgerald’s Chicago tenure was winding down and if he would seek a higher post within the Justice Department or forge a career in private practice. Shortly after President Obama took office, there had been speculation in Chicago and Washington that Fitzgerald, 49, would be tapped to oversee the FBI when Director Robert Mueller’s term ends in September 2011.

You got it ... months late, effectiveness lacking.

Mental image:

drowning, hyperventilating man furiously
kicking and floundering in a dark,
unpredictable sea, tossed from the boat
he made himself

That’s the state today of the PINO
(potus in name only)

“I’ve done my all,” Daley said. “I’ve done my best. Now, I’m ready with my family to begin the new phase of our lives.” “In the end, this was a personal decision, no more, no less,” Daley said on not seek another term.

When a pol mentions his family as the reason for retirement, you know he has big troubles and was probably forced out.

======================================

Now Rahm Emanuel's entree into the top echelons of the federal govt are paved with his past victories: 4-term Congressman Rahm was beatified as the man who masterminded the Congress and WH takeover together with his Chicago pal, David Axelrod.

Rahm ran a political action committee laughingly called "Our Common Values PAC."

In 2005 he chaired the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee 2006-07. Rahm had Dems winning in solid Republican districts running as "true believers." Rahm and Axelrod had Maoist mau mau Ohaha himself win by deceiving voters, saying things like, "I want to be another Reagan."

FAST FORWARD TO 2010 Democrats face a series of dramatic defeats at every level of government in Washington and beyond in Nov midterms, according to leading analysts and opinion polls. The U of Virginia’s widely monitored Crystal Ball forecasts sweeping setbacks on Capitol Hill and the loss of a clutch of state governorships Nov 2.

Such is the scale of the expected losses, that according to local polls, Democrats are on course to lose the governorships of left-leaning states such as Michigan and Pennsylvania..............and may be vulnerable in Illinois, long a Dem party bastion, and home to Ohaha and his WH crew.

" Holy Allah. Illinois? Gone? Get that little twerp Rahm in here. He'll pay for this."

The City of Chicago is bankrupt.
The pension and medical insurance funds for municipal employees is bankrupt.
The pension fund for Chicago public school teachers is bankrupt.
The County of Cook is bankrupt.
The pension and medical insurance funds for Cook County employees is bankrupt.
The pension and medical insurance funds for Cook County teachers is bankrupt.
The State of Illinois is bankrupt.
The pension and medical insurance funds for Illinois State employees is bankrupt.
The pension and medical insurance funds for Illinois State professors, state legislators, and quango agencies is bankrupt.

As of January 3rd, 2011, the 112th United States Congress will be seated and there will be no financial relief for the State of Illinois and it’s component municipal and county governments until January 3, 2013.

Between now and January 3, 2013, the socio-economic conditions in the greater Chicagoland area will deteriorate at an increasingly exponential rate, leading to a reinforcing downward spiral that will not reach bottom until some point AFTER the end of the first term of the next Mayor of the City of Chicago.

This is our reality in these United States of America, and this is the unmentionable set of facts that the Democrat machinery in Illinois will never allow to be broadcast in their mainstream media allies’ corporate outlets in the state.

Can the Illinois pension catastrophe be stopped?

By Robert Novy-Marx and Joshua Rauh

August 13, 2010

Government accounting standards have facilitated this surreptitious borrowing by grossly undervaluing the state’s pension liabilities. A true financial valuation of unfunded pension liabilities reveals a debt of more than $200 billion for the state and local governments. That is around $42,000 per Illinois household and only counts benefits that public employees can claim based on today’s pay and work history.

The April legislation that trims benefits for new hires doesn’t reduce your $42,000 debt by one penny.

Pension check may not be in the mail

Illinois public employees who think the state constitution guarantees that they’ll get all their pension benefits may have another think coming.

*** UPDATE *** As NBC’s Libby Leist notes, it was on “Charlie Rose” in April when Emanuel suggested he wanted to be Chicago mayor.

MR. ROSE: Is there any other job in government you’d like to have?
MR. EMANUEL: In government?
MR. ROSE: In government.
MR. EMANUEL: Yeah.
MR. ROSE: What?
MR. EMANUEL: It’s no secret —
MR. ROSE: You want to be Speaker of the House.
MR. EMANUEL: Well, that’s over.
No. I would one day — first of all, let me say it this way: I hope Mayor Daley seeks reelection. I will work and support him if he seeks reelection. But if Mayor Daley doesn’t, one day I would like to run for mayor of the city of Chicago. That’s always been an aspiration of mine — even when I was in the House of Representatives.

Scratch Rahm. He doesn't have the machine aka ward structure behind him and he won't get to first base. His only support would be the north shore limosine liberals, the gays and the artsy-fartsy effetes.

My money would be on Daley's brother, Bill, who's always wanted to run for something.

Bill, 52, is the youngest of the Daley brothers, is an attorney, was Secy. of Commerce under Clintoon...plus most important, he knows where the bears did what in the buckwheat. He also would garner untold millions in contributions because the Chicago business community has always loved the Daleys.

Just declaring his intention to run would scare the slavering pack into not running.

* 1:44 pm - From the Sun-Times…

A public official has to know when it’s time to move on, Daley said during a press conference. “For me that time is now.”

Daley said he’s thought about the decision for weeks.

“I’ve done my all,” Daley said. “I’ve done my best. Now, I’m ready with my family to begin the new phase of our lives.”

“In the end, this was a personal decision, no more, no less,” Daley said, declining to answer questions. “I’ve been thinking about this for the last several months . . . . It just feels right.”

Katy bar the door.

* My first thought is I never figured he’d go out while he’s held in such low regard. His lousy poll numbers, the failed Olympics bid, the parking meter fiasco, etc., etc., etc. may have individually felled a mere political mortal, but I figured he wanted to restore his reputation before departing. Maybe he figured he couldn’t. More likely it’s a cumulative thing. He broke his father’s record. His wife is ill. It’s time to give somebody else a chance.

* My second thought is just a quick wonder whom the Daley/Bridgeport remnants will back now. They’ve had a horse in every race going back a century or so.

* 2:16 pm - State Sen. James Meeks has been mentioned for weeks as a possible Daley challenger. I just talked to him and here’s his on the record statement…

“The mayor has served the city for 20-plus years, and now it’s time for him to enjoy the rest of his life. The new mayor who will take over has nowhere to go but up. Public schools are in need of overhaul. City colleges are in need of overhaul. The city’s finances are in need of overhaul. The city’s rapport with police officers is at an all-time low. For the new mayor, the sky’s the limit.”

* I’m hearing two reactions so far. One is serious worry about the city’s future, the other is relief that this long, never-ending rule is finally over.

‘..I suspect Obama is going to bring him into an Admin job...’

I’m thinking this too....same with Charlie Crist after he agrees to back out of FL Senate race so all Dems will support Kendrick Meek and not split the vote.

IIRC Burris has the largest war chest and is in position to officially take over the power he has had for some time.

Question are:
Will there be turf wars to follow?
Is there and indictment or plea bargain in the works?
Was some kind of pay to not play paid?
