Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer and her Republican opponent Carly Fiorina will square off Wednesday night in the only debate scheduled so far in a race that polls show is a toss up between the two women.
The hour-long event at St. Marys College in Moraga begins at 7 p.m. It will be televised on CBS affiliates up and down the state, including on KTTV in Los Angeles. The debate is being sponsored by the San Francisco Chronicle and KQED public radio and will be streamed live on both sponsors web sites. C-Span is also televising the forum.

You got that right...I have friends in Cal. and unfortunately they have taken on some of the liberal mentality since moving there. But they will vote Rebublican just the same....thank God!
Carly seemed to connect a lot more with the common folks and their plight on a far superior level than Boxie B.
And her point about the Central Ca. farmers being deprived of water for their farms was so excellent and truly pathetic that Boxer and her ilk turned a deaf ear to them all.
Yes, she did good and didn’t slip up.
On the pay question it is simple. Teachers get severance pay and a pension, so do private employees. Her severance pay was calculated based on how well she did during her entire tenure, not just over the last 6 or 12 months. The same formula should be used for all public employees.
Very true. There is no mistaking how TN stole Nissan HQ from CA. We also won VW’s first plant with over 600 million in tax breaks. The money to run gov here will come from the worker, not the corporation.
Exactamento. Predictably one sided.
My only wish, at this point, is that the candidate was DeVore not Fiorini.
In spite of the Joe Miller endorsement, I believe that the Carly Fiorina endorsement by Sarah Palin will go down in 2010 as the most important endorsement that she has made.
Without Palin’s endorsement of Fiorina, Campbell the RINO would have won the GOP primary and Boxer would have have won the general election in a cakewalk. Now Boxer is in a fight for her political career, and she knows it.
I may not agree with the little things with Fiorina, but here in Kallifornia she is heaven sent, and hopefully our next Senator.
Wow. You're really going to rile the Palin-haters tonight.
That was my favorite part. That and the closing. I like her a whole lot better now of course I'm neither a Californian nor a swing voter.
CF represents a huge upgrade over the B in the Box soiling up that Senate seat for far too long.
Why do conservatives and Republicans constantly agree to debates where all the moderators are liberal democrats?
It happens at the Presidential level when you have guys like Jim Lehrer, Bob Schieffer, and Tom Brokaw doing debates. Or Gwen Ifill, who wrote a book about how historic Obama is moderating the VP debate. Even in the GOP Primary in 2007/8 they were doing debates on CNN, MSNBC, etc... This debate has a guy from NPR, some liberal from a San Francisco paper, and a hispanic activist. All three of them are clearly voting for Boxer. Will the next debate feature some rich guy from Orange County, a tea party leader from Inland, and some conservative talk radio host?
Conservatives need to insist on more balance in debates.
That said, I thought Fiorina did fine. I don’t know if this really changed anything, but she held her ground. I think the result will come down to the overall mood of the country and the economy in 2 months time. If it’s still this bad, Boxer is in big trouble. Also, I think if Meg Whitman can start to open up a nice lead she could help Fiorina out as I think people see the two of them as somewhat of a package deal.
Why do conservatives and Republicans constantly agree to debates where all the moderators are liberal democrats?
——————————————————————————————Because in California, we have no choice! None!
If Fiorina proves to be the 51st Senator giving the GOP a majority in the Senate, the Palin endorsement will have proven to be pivotal.
You do understand that a pure conservative could never be elected in California?
As a high school teacher, I LOVE MERIT PAY AND VOUCHERS.
I also love summary expulsions and suspensions.
I work my butt off to teach and I am not negative, yet I expect HARD WORK from my students. Teachers that do not do so SHOULD BE FIRED. They killing a child’s future, and their laziness is defended by a union?
TEACH OR GO HOME. CHILDREN DEPEND ON YOU.
She earned the title? WHEN was that? I’ve lived in CA my entire life and I don’t remember her earning the title - unless you mean some other title that’s not fit to post.
*They’re killing a childs future, and their laziness is defended by a union?
I will trade a rino Fiorina for our RINO McLame anytime. And throw in McLame ugly kid and hottie wife.
Hah! Absolutely.
Even so, Mrs. Fiorina came across a lot better than I expected.
Maybe Maybe not. Reagan was from California. That really was not much of a ‘debate’ anyway. It was a set up for Boxer. Carly should of refused it with those Liberals. She seemed frustrated to me.
