Ground zero mosque opponents are pounding a drumbeat of hatred and ignoring the conservative principles of private property and religious freedom, Texas Rep. Ron Paul says.
In an exclusive Newsmax.TV interview, the 2008 GOP presidential hopeful alleged that conservative opponents of the mosque and cultural center two blocks from the World Trade Center site in New York City are blaming all Muslims for the Sept. 11 attacks instead of focusing their ire on al-Qaida, the actual perpetrator.
Pauls stance has placed him at odds with many Republicans, including his son, Kentucky GOP Senate candidate Rand Paul, who voiced his opposition to the proposed mosque and Islamic center two blocks north of ground zero during a recent Newsmax.TV interview.
Conservatives are enamored with the idea of having an imperial presence on the worlds stage, with troops stationed around the globe, the elder Paul says.
They support the war in Afghanistan and Iraq and actually support plans for intimidating and moving toward war in Iran, he says. They have to have a reason for that, and they cant say its for oil or they cant say its to . . . make them all democrats over there.
You have to have somebody you are willing to hate you have to have a Hitler to hate.
Paul believes such advocates are making Muslims that hate target to get Americans to support the wars.
They have to keep the drumbeat of hate up, so they have to blame the entire religion, he says. Thats not everybody . . . that might support or not support building the mosque, because a lot of people just say, Thats bad manners and they shouldnt do it because they havent thought it through.

yes...and spot on!
Grand example of the dangerous neo isolationism of libertarians.
There is also a veiled hostility to Christianity where libertarians enjoy copping out on social conservatives. Churches get nailed in zoning all the time with precious few rebuttals from libertarians.
Not like his dad..but he didn't fall too far from the tree.
My hope is that Rand is not going to be a carbon copy of his father.
Hey, Ron
Nice to shoot your kid in the butt.
Kentuckians acually think the Muzzies are attempting a takeover.
Do you bother to think?
He sold his soul to the devil islam. I wander how many pieces of Saudi Silver are in his back pocket.
Hey Ron, why don't you try taking a suitcase full of Bibles into Mecca and maybe you'll learn the definition of religious hatred.
Islam is a religion that teaches hatred of ALL OTHER RELIGIONS. Therefore I have no qualms about hating Islam.
This guy’s elevator doesn’t go to the top floor.
He campaigned with Adam Kokesh.
It is time for Ron Paul to retire.
The one-trick RINO should spend the rest of his political life calling for the FED to be audited.
Ron, you’re an idiot.
That Ron Paul is quite the Radical by supporting Property Rights.
Adam Kokesh:
If his discharge had been changed to “other than honorable,” Kokesh would have lost access to certain veteran’s health care services and been forced to pay back over $10,000 in educational benefits he received.[19]
On June 4, 2007, the panel recommended Kokesh be given a general discharge under honorable conditions, a discharge status below honorable. Kokesh appealed the decision,[20] and that appeal was denied[21] 7 June.
“I am burning my Ron Paul sign. That does it.”
That’s not easy, I salute you. Ron Paul has captured the imagination of many who wish the best for America. His positions on govt size and spending are laudable. Your support of him (along with many others) was rooted in conservative principles, and everyone should recognize that.
But conservatives already cover that ground. We can accomplish what’s needed without the rest of Dr. Paul’s rather whacked out views.
Cheers and congrats,
SW
Lest anyone forget that Ron Paul actually agrees with this Imam on more then just the building of this mosque. Paul has expressed the exact same blame-America logic repeatedly. Of course Paul’s drumbeat of hatred is always geared to who he calls neo-cons.
But the pervert Paul has continually apoligized for the actions of the 9/11 terrorists so his rush to the side of this Imam and the building of a Ground Zero victory mosque is no suprise at all. I guessed days before he first starting making these statements that he would take this position.
Ron Turd believes the US invaded Afghanistan for oil.
“That Ron Paul is quite the Radical by supporting Property Rights.”
If property rights was the issue your statement would have some meaning.
I’m done with him.
TX. But I still think all government must be cut to the bone. BUT this is unacceptable.
