To date, while it appears that most Tea Party leaders verbally support all three legs of this milk stool some, such as Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, assert that the social issues (and specifically abortion and the right to life) must take a back seat to the other two legs, which are seen as more important.
A further example of this viewpoint was shown in a recent interview of Sarah Palin with Sean Hannity of Fox News. Gov. Sarah Palin, a committed pro-life leader, was asked to name the top five issues facing the country today and the deaths of 1.25 million unborn annually from abortion was not on her list. If, indeed, this is the approach a new Congress takes after the November mid-term elections, then the agenda of the Tea Party movement will fail.
He is absolutely right.

I emailed one of the Tea Party people and said they need to include the life issue.
It was gratifying to see so many pro-God people at Glen Beck’s rally. Maybe the West will be saved after all.

I couldn't disagree with the author more. The abortion issue is part of the Tea Party Movement as it relates to government funding of abortion, and should go no further. The Tea Party Movement was begun to stop the Obama administration's assault on the economy, and that should remain it's primary focus or it will fail.
There is already a movement dedicated to and focused upon ending abortion in this country....it's called the PRO-LIFE MOVEMENT.

Looks to me like there are definite signs on this thread that there are Republicans who want the Tea Party to be pretty much what the GOP is.

Jill Stanek has some interesting info on her (
JillStanek.com) website about the Joe Miller primary victory in Alaska:
MSM credits Joe Millers AK GOP primary win to pro-life vote
The Msinstream Media is giving the pro-life community some credit in the victory of Joe Miller.
One reason is the Parental Consent law on the ballot at the same time of the primary.
Many pro-life voters, according to the article, voted for Joe Miller since they were going to the polls about the Parental Consent Law.
How much of a factor this was is unclear.
The TEA Party movement should get the lion's share of credit, in my opinion.

The tea party IS the American people and at this point, I believe they will continue to make their voices heard and come out in November whether there is an organized tea party movement or not.
To: wagglebee
I will support tea party candidates as long as they are for fiscal conservatism, and reducing my taxes.
If you make it about social issues, you’ll lose many. If you make it about God, you’ll lose me. This government has its hands in too many things it never should have had a say in. Let alone the right say in.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have a problem with religious people. But if, increasingly, the tea party becomes about not only belief in God, but belief in the *right* God... I don’t want to be involved in it. I don’t care what religion Glen Beck is. He’s not even running for office. I don’t care about gays or evolution in the classroom or Christmas trees in the town square. I care about lower taxes, and a free economy, period.

If we don’t campaign and win on family/life issues, we may win in the short term, but we will lose our country in the long run.

I disagree. The Tea Party should remain focused on taxes and government spending. People wanting to focus on pro-Life issues should form a Life Party along similar lines. Membership in both parties may overlap, but they should remain distinct.

Yes, I agree, the Tea Party movement is lifeless without their standing up for Christ's little ones (and their mothers).
I like to follow holy souls when it comes to matters of defeating the demonic hold of abortion:
"There is no stopping abortion without an ocean of grace from Jesus Christ. No way will human means stop abortion. The principle source of this grace is the Holy Eucharist" --Fr. John A. Hardon.
"Love the Madonna and pray the rosary, for her rosary is the weapon against the evils of the world today" --Padre Pio.
"We are reminded that even supposed political victories are temporary, and that the solution to these problems is not political, even if we have to keep up the political fight and our activist efforts. We are called to prayer, fasting and conversion...only God can put a stop to the horror of abortion now" --Fr. Thomas J. Euteneuer.
"A sign of care for the weakest of the weak - the unborn child - must go out to the world. If you become a burning light of justice and peace in the world, then really you will be true to what the founders of this country stood for" --Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

Abortion will become less and less appealing to Americans, if we follow the above suggestions, as the Eucharist carries the power to win all battles, as the Eucharist is Christ Himself. Consider daily Mass, in addition to the daily recitation of the rosary and frequent Confession, fasting, etc. In doing so, Planned Parenthoods would eventually be forced to close, as the Christ Child would replace the evil desire we have to murder our babies and destroy our mothers.
