From Sean Cockerham at the Alaska Division of Elections office in Anchorage --
Update, 11:10 a.m.: Joe Miller's lead over Lisa Murkowski narrowed from 1,668 votes to 1,325 with the first count of absentee ballots this morning.
It looks like 2,391 votes were counted in this first batch. They're from Districts 17 through 26, all Anchorage.
More numbers to come.

It’s in “breaking news” - three of us broke our necks trying to post it first...LOL. I so want Lisa to concede.
After today’s count, she must realize she can’t win.
A 1,000+ lead is a landslide in Alaska. :)
Joe Miller has been in the lead since the very beginning.
You’re very welcome, Truthsearcher, and I have pinged you to the “breaking news” too!
Just listened and Christine sounded great.
It’s amazing that they only expect 19K votes in the Republican primary in DE.
Krauthammer said a formal acknowledgement isn’t necessary as Bambi thanked him subtly by using GWB’s former military officials and never changed his plan once he took office. Still I’d like to hear the actual words as subtly won’t work with the dumb voters.
“I so want Lisa to concede.
After todays count, she must realize she cant win.”
Looks like you may get your wish, Onyx. From CNN:
“Murkowski Could Concede GOP Race as Early as Tuesday”
Next RINO in Palin’s crosshairs: Mike Castle
Yahooooo!
I won’t celebrate until either the win is certified by the SOS or Murkowski concedes.
Am I blind as I don't see it but we hear Judy Woodruff has tweeted that Murk may concede!
I dunno. If Murkowski concedes after the results today, I don’t think we can really criticize her for her post-election conduct.
We’re the ones who are equating RINOs with Democrats.
We’re the ones who have been thinking that Murk has been trying to steal the election, when there has been not all that much evidence of that. Some, yes, and Miller is right to keep on top of it, but not much.
Yes, it is right for us to prefer a good libertarian conservative over a RINO, but it doesn’t mean that Murkowski was really all that wrong to wait a week to see the results of the absentees.
What we’ve seen today points more strongly to a Murkowski loss. She might be watching these results just like us and finding out that she’s lost just like we are.
Republican unity, especially with a Miller win, is the way to go. Attacking Murk at this point - unless she really does try to steal the election - is counter productive.
Sarah, Please come to Maryland and help us take this state back.
Thanks. Someone said the figures change every 70 minutes but that has not proven true. However rumor is she will concede and that’s now been backed up by Judy Woodruff so it’s only a matter of time (I hope).
Well, if the counting really ends tonight, and really ends in a Miller victory, I personally promise to be very postive. Very, very positive.
Update, 3:20 p.m.:
Partial vote in from Southeast and the Kenai Peninsula, with Murkowki picking up 2 votes on Miller.
Miller leads by 1,292 votes. But that’s with only about 1,300 votes coming in from Southeast and the Kenai so far, out of over 5,000 supposed to be counted today.
Nearly half of the tally in from southeast and the Kenai was for the Democratic primary, so there were only about 700 votes affecting the Miller-Murkowski race in the Republican primary.
The ballots just counted from Juneau and Kenai were questioned ballots. We’re still waiting for the absentees from those areas.
Also waiting on first results of questioned and absentee ballots from Fairbanks.
So far, about 9,000 additional ballots have been counted today.
just heard her and miller, too. they are both the real deal!
Really? Will Sarah be endorsing Christine? Did something happen that I haven’t heard yet?
That would be great.
It’s good to see the O’Donnell v Castle race get on the front burner.
I totally agree, absentee voting should be for military only, if you travel on election day too damn bad.
This is one of the many ways, I think that November is looking to be a terrible shocker for our side.
DUDE...back away from the weed.
