A handful of prominent evangelical activists are defending their decision to attend television host Glenn Beck's conservative rally in Washington this weekend after some Christians complained that evangelicals shouldn't be partnering with Beck because of his Mormon faith.
"There is no need to 'de-Christianize' each other over the matter," wrote Jim Garlow, an influential California pastor, in a five-page memo this week arguing that evangelicals can attend Beck's rally and partner with the television and radio personality in good conscience.
"Glenn Beck is being used by God - mightily," Garlow wrote in the memo, which was obtained by CNN. "The left loves to slam him and do so viscerally and often with vulgarities. Glenn is not perfect... But his expose on America's sins is stellar."

My conclusion at this point as well. Generally it's not until one is pretty much snookered into LDS that the reality of what they are really about is revealed...and this is a lengthy process I understand. Rather like when one is in Freemasonary....not til you get in deeper is the truth understood...up til then it is simply going thru the requirements so you can say you are one of them.
“We have Islamist terrorists and Marxists to worry about.”
One day, they will be the least of your worries. If you are one of His, you should have a big problem with Mormonism.
John 14:23-24
I am no fan of the Mormon religion but Glenn Beck is an American who wants the best for American and the best from Americans. Unlike Obama. The rally wasnt about Beck, it was about America. Libs cant understand that. They follow the cult of personality, which is why Obama is president. You are 100% right.
Im no fan of Buddhism either but if a Buddhist publically pronounces that two plus two equals four does that mean I have to reject all mathematics as heresy? Of course not.Well said.
100% correct!
The 8/28 Rally was not “about” Beck. All such claims are a ploy to discredit all the patriotic Americans attending, all the patriotic Americans that watched it and more importantly the liberals and socialists want to discredit honest, faithful and sincere Americans that stand in the way of their trying to destroy America.
Beck isnt asking us to join the Mormon Church or any other church, for that matter.A fact that seems impossible to grasp by some of the lesser lights of FR.
This is exactly where that fat pig of a Senator, Landrieu, was going with her code-worded: Becks gospel is not real. When the left isn't playing the race card, they're playing some other bigotry card.
Somebody said that Glenn Beck was originally an Evangelical but converted to Mormonism when he married a Mormon. Is this true?
I believe he was Catholic to begin with. From what I have read, he and his wife both went looking for a church and found Mormonism together.
Yeah, Mormonism is a theological mess. I agree. But ya know what? I never am gonna be worried about the OSMOND FAMILY banging down my front door and beheading me.You know, when I first hit the REPLY button to reply to your post I was going to just post the letters: LOL!
And though on one level it is amusing, what you posted (amusing and oh-so-obviously true), I couldn't help but think of a real story, related by Briget Gabriel, a Christian Lebanese woman who escaped from the Islamic takeover of her country.
She claims that more than once (once would have been horrible enough, and I don't remember how many times she thinks it happened), Moslem "soldiers" entered a Christian home, took a young child, tied one leg to the father, one leg to the mother and then proceed to pull the parents apart.
THIS is the enemy people. ISLAM, MARXISM, Obama, Pelosi, Reid, the Ground Zero Mosque... THEY are the enemy... not the freaking mormons!!!
Glenn baptized a Roman Catholic as a child, lost his way completely when he became an alcoholic, spiritually, physically, the whole nine yards. He adopted the Mormon faith when he asked Tonya to be his wife.
I’m leaning that way too. He has yet, as far as I’m aware of, esposed any Mormon theology that contradicts Scripture.
The most impressive thing I heard yesterday (I was there), was that all Americans should KNOW what they believe in, so that when hardtimes come, we can stand.
I hope the Holy Spirit opens the eyes of many in the Mormon church, and elsewhere.
Who the hell cares if Christians and Mormons believe the same exact way. What is important is that both believe in faith, hope and charity and some few of either actually live by the Golden Rule. Even under the worst of them, either will do better for America than will the atheist liberals or the terrible muslims.
Beck, IIRC, is a Mormon so I was commenting on his “version of Christianity” phrase. Poor choice of words
I agree with your post. Mark 9:40For he that is not against us is on our part. 41For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.
42And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea
Although I don’t agree with Glenn’s Mormon teachings, I do believe his heart is in the right place, and we should keep him in our prayers, that the Lord will open his eyes to the erroneous teachings he has learned. However, he seems more tolerant of others, than they do of him.
I’ve met some wonderful Mormon people. However, I do believe they are wrong in their beliefs. All we can do is love them, pray for them, and trust the Lord to open their eyes to the true gospel.
Glenn isn’t gathering people to follow him, (I don’t think) but, wants this nation to turn back to God in prayer and repentance. Can God use a Mormon to accomplish this feat? He once used a jackass, didn’t he?
I understand...but I welcome a fellow warrior in battle against this enemy, maybe the battle will bring us closer together and make us stronger.
Which is always a good thing, because so far we have failed miserably.
Beck says he extensively researched Mormonism, and after he adopted their religion, he marketed a CD sharing his conversion tale. Beck is a salesmen for Mormonism.
He is now becoming America’s most prominent national preacher to Christians.
Beck’s new desire to become the Mormon Billy Graham to America, tied with the current Mormon PR campaign, and the Mitt Romney campaigns is having quite an effect on many Christians as we can see here at FR, as poster after poster jumps up to denigrate “bigoted” Christians and further Mormonism.
Yes, and I strongly made that point.
But you make a mistake by thinking that correct theological beliefs aren't important. Far, far from it.
“How could he constantly talk about his Mormanism (which is NOT CHRISTIANITY but a works based cult) and truly understand the concept of salvation through Christ.”
Maybe the same way that Catholics pray to dead people even though the Bible says its wrong?
Deuteronomy 18:10-13
Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the LORD your God.
Or maybe the same way that Christians of all stripes who still celebrate Easter which is a pagan holiday established over 2000 yrs before Christ?
