Uh oh: Top NRSC lawyer headed to Alaska to advise Murkowski?

DISASTER!!

~SNIP~

Sean Cairncross, the general counsel of the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee, is headed to Alaska at the request of Sen. Lisa Murkowski to help provide guidance to the GOP incumbent finds herself trailing attorney Joe Miller by roughly 1,600 votes…

Committee sources insisted that too much should not be read into Cairncross’ presence in Alaska — only that the NRSC is an incumbent-retention committee and, as such, provides assistance when Senators ask for it.

Let me get this straight. After taking loads of abuse from the grassroots for endorsing Charlie Crist before Rubio’s campaign got off the ground, and with Murkowski already pointedly refusing to rule out a third-party bid if Miller’s (shrinking) lead holds up, John Cornyn and the NRSC are … sending their top lawyer to help her out? And framing it explicitly in terms of retaining incumbents? Do they really have no idea of how bitterly ferocious the backlash will be among the Republican base — especially, but not only, among Palin’s supporters — if they’re seen as tilting the election to Murkowski?

Well, that one of the purposes of their damn committee, but it sure leaves a stink, doesn't it? Now Joe Miller is forced to hire legal counsel of his own.

She's still going to lose, so now she can be a sore loser.

I'm not advocating for either organization, but I think it's important to draw the distinction. The GOP RARELY (if ever) involves itself in primary politics. Only in a handful of instances where a candidate might be completely unacceptable - David Duke comes to mind immediately - will the national GOP get involved.

So WTF is *this*?

I mean, unless it's to get her to bow out graceful-like.....

"So WTF is *this*?"

This is the NRSC getting involved, not the RNC. The NRSC advocates for sitting Senators. It's "management team" is comprised entirely of sitting senators, so they are going to protect the incumbent.

I'm not defending it, I'm just drawing the distinction between the Republican National Committee (otherwise known as the GOP or the RNC), and the ENTIRELY unaffiliated National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC).

I am getting closer to cutting my lifelong ties to the republican party. I know that we will lose if we do that but with the rnc being so corrupt and the rot within all leaders of the party, we lose with them just as badly. You would think that someone in dc would have a functioning brain stem... no evidence of that so far.

Why push for absentee ballots when you’re 30% ahead?

In addition:

Several weeks back there was a blurb that Todd was working for Miller. When Sarah ran they went to all the villages where Todd's family and friends lived (Easy to pass out requests for or ballots there.

On Tuesday night thread someone mentioned the ANG was out on maneuvers (Don't know if that included Track), but some of those ballots are from Track's friends.

Miller is military. The same thread mentioned Miller visiting bases....More absentee votes there.

And then there are the fishermen friends of Palin (Many would vote absentee because of being out at sea on election day)

Then their are those working on the oil fields...Todd's friends.

Also mentioned the item on the ballot that would require parental notification of an abortion...With 8 kids...what group would that turn out!

Maybe I'm just wishful thinking...

Miller have it in the bag? You betcha!

This is positively outrageous. If they are trying to dry up contributions to the NRSC and the GOP (I read what one poster said, trying to draw a distinction, but that is going to be lost on most donors), this is a terrific way to do it. Talk about shooting themselves in both feet.

Sarah Palin should get the facts and see whether ACE’s take is more accurate than Allahpundit’s. If it turns out that they really are trying to tip it to Murkowski, SP needs to come out and blast them.

I don’t think it will work. The GOP lieutenant Governor, who is a stalwart conservative and military man, is in charge of counting the absentee ballots, so I have no idea why the NRSC felt the need to send a lawyer. The Lt. Governor will count the ballots and the result will be what it is. It is at best a waste of money to send the lawyer and at worst it is tampering in a contested primary, using people’s money in a way they never would have approved.

In either case, it is going to rile up the base even more.

Hang in until Sarah takes control. That’s what I’m doing. See your latest ping.

I used the largest photo I have of her to ping the list!

She is on fire.

Different subject, however.

This group is an INCUMBENT PROTECTION ORGRANIZATION FOR SENATORS!

You are correct, Onyx. We need to wait until Sarah Plain takes control of the RNC. It will be like cleaning the Augean stables but she is exactly the person to do it!

BTW, did Cornyn pay attention to the results last night? (To quote Forrest Gump, is he crazy of just plain stupid?) He is up for reelection in 2014.

How would you like a primary challenge then in TX with President Palin coming in for your Tea Party opponent, Johnny? Keep doing what you are doing and you can join Lisa in retirement. The Arctic Fox has your number, too.

I doubt the weenie will run in 2014. He’s acting like a lame and deaf wussy duck.

Sarah is on fire with regard to that union thug. She’s posted amessage to union members on FaceBook I have pinged the list with the largest photo I have of her!

Now she needs to direct her attention to the recount unless she’s already 25 steps ahead of us and that wouldn’t surprise me at all!
