Sean Cairncross, the general counsel of the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee, is headed to Alaska at the request of Sen. Lisa Murkowski to help provide guidance to the GOP incumbent finds herself trailing attorney Joe Miller by roughly 1,600 votes
Committee sources insisted that too much should not be read into Cairncross presence in Alaska only that the NRSC is an incumbent-retention committee and, as such, provides assistance when Senators ask for it.
Let me get this straight. After taking loads of abuse from the grassroots for endorsing Charlie Crist before Rubios campaign got off the ground, and with Murkowski already pointedly refusing to rule out a third-party bid if Millers (shrinking) lead holds up, John Cornyn and the NRSC are sending their top lawyer to help her out? And framing it explicitly in terms of retaining incumbents? Do they really have no idea of how bitterly ferocious the backlash will be among the Republican base especially, but not only, among Palins supporters if theyre seen as tilting the election to Murkowski?
That’s perfect!
If this is a freep shouldn’t it be moved to the activism section on the headline page?
I’ve already picked four categories...lol.
ASked cause... didn’t see it.
I read that the only party LM could run on in AK has a secessionist platform and that would go against everything she has ever said......
Cornyn spends more time campaigning for incumbents than on Texas. I’ll never vote for him again in the primaries.
Yep, you’re right, on both counts.
Isn’t that a bit like saying CNBC and MSNBC are “two entirely different and completely separate organizations”?
My thought exactly. Very bad form on the part of the DC elites.
Alaska has a sore loser law. Murkowski cant run as an indepedent. Once the count is finished and if Miller is still ahead, then she is finished too, period.
Write John Cornyn’s Senate offices about this. They will send you a letter back, saying that they are not the campaign. But you do touch the aides and staff in the office concerning your passion. I used to live in Sheila J Lee’s district. I politely called about once a month in order to let the young interns know that there were folks that disagreed.
No, not at all. The GOP and NRSC compete - usually for money from the same groups of donors, but in other ways as well. There is no coordination - just like there isn't any coordination between the DNC and the DCCC, or the DLC. They are different organizations, staffed and managed by different people, frequently with different and competing objectives.
I know people would like to think that there is a "Republican Establishment". There isn't. It's folly. Washington is a back-stabbing, parochial even territorial place where everyone is looking out for number one. IF ONLY there were some real cooperation between these organizations.
guarantee the democrats will be willing to help her and all the rinos.

Thanks onyx.
‘...General Cornyn: Well, you see Cairncross... In this election, things get confused out there, power, ideals, the old morality, and practical political necessity. Out there with these natives it must be a temptation to be god. Because there’s a conflict in every human heart between the rational and the irrational, between good and evil. The good does not always triumph. Sometimes the dark side overcomes what Lincoln called the better angels of our nature. Every man has got a breaking point. You and I have. Lisa Murkowski has reached hers. And very obviously, she has gone insane.’

as pertaining to the absentee ballots, the Murkowski campaign is crowing that they’ll win....why?
Why push for absentee ballots when you’re 30% ahead?
Why make the effort to vote absentee if you candidate is 30% ahead?

Rumor has it that is Lisa loses, she’ll try to acquire a spot on the Libertarian ticket.
I bet certain Libertarians would sell their souls for this kind of spotlight attention.
