Believe it or not, Rick Scott is your Republican nominee for Florida governor.
Here are some highlights from his victory speech tonight in Ft. Lauderdale:
Remember me, the handsome bald guy? With a deep sense of humility, Im here tonight to accept the Republican nomination for the office of governor of our great state of Florida.
The Republican party will come together, and the reason we will come together is our shared devotion to values that make America great.
Voters took a chance on me today. They know Im not a politician. I didnt come up through the political ranks. They know it was not my turn to be governor. But the voters also know this, that our state and our nation have been headed in the wrong direction for quite a while. People know that government cannot continue to expand, cannot continue to spend more than you make, cannot keep piling up record debt each and every year. Its a mistake.

Speaks volume, hmmmm. Don't forget???
Sink would literally mean electing Obama as our Gov. Given the choice and what is at stake, Scott will get my vote in the general - he did not get it in the primary.
Agree!
The primary is over and we did not get what we voted for!!
That does NOT mean that we now should jump ship and let the RATs take over in Tallahassee. It's now time to unify behind Rich Scott wheter we like it or not!!!
Did you read what I wrote? The 4th tier candidate I’m talking about was running against Rubio. The Freeper supporter of that candidate was calling Marco a coward, RINO, fraud etc etc.
I’ve known Bill McCollum since he was in DC writing articles of impeachment against Clinton and trying his damnedest to throw him out of office. He’s a good, decent man. Yes, he’s a career politician and part of the establishment running the RNC and voters have an anti-incumbent mindset that has hurt him.
McCollum has worked both sides of the aisles more than I’d like, yet there are certain positions his principles are not compromised. Abortion being the first that comes to mind.
Saying McCollum is a Charlie Crist does nothing to advance your position and in fact makes you look either ignorant of McCollum’s record, or desperate to smear him with anything in an attempt to advance Scott.
Is it possible for a single Scott supporter to tell me why I or anyone else, should actually support him without tearing down someone else?
Why, specifically, should I support HIM instead of throwing my vote his way, solely because he has an R after his name?
Positions, background, assurances based on past actions that he is what he claims to be, explanation of why he personally profited from the holocaust of elective abortion - something, anything. Can a single Scott supporter do that?
Usually, one has to post something of substance to be refuted. You posted nothing but nonsense based on lame innuendo and assumptions that can't be supported. If you could support any of your misguided suggestions, you would. You can't so you opt for drivel instead.
The Satanic (oops, I meant Solantic) scandal unfolding around Scott promises to be a real doozy
Yeah, right. You are, no doubt, as misinformed about Solantic as you are about HCA. At least you're consistent. So you've got that going for you, Spackler.
And he cant buy every vote in Florida, or even just half of them.
Yeah, a guy with little name recognition uses his own money to overcome that problem, in one of the most expensive states in the country to campaign, and you flame him for it. You must have been a big fan of McCain and CFR. Do you dump on Scott because you're a victim of what the media tells you to believe or do you dislike self-made rich people? Maybe you abhor the industry in general and welcome the government takeover of healthcare.
No, I dont like Sink and what she represents
Yeah, sure. You dislike what she represents so badly that you'll sit on the sidelines and allow one more vote into her column. Such principles. Such purity. It's really overwhelming. Whiny conservatives live!
But when the primary gets highjacked by rich con men I have to step back and reassess the situation.
Well, since you can't prove he's a con man, it must be the money you have a problem with. Is this caused by envy or your commitment to class warfare? A rich Republican uses his own money to campaign, which allows the RGC keep their powder dry for other races, while forcing the rats to allocate resources to this race at the expense of others, and all you can do is hurl stones. What a guy!
So you man the barricades. I think I will be sitting this one out.
Another suicide conservative. Can't get 100% of what you want so you're going to go sulk in the corner. Scared and whiny is no way to go through life.
ok my apologies then, I thought you were piling on with naughtinurse’s comment and I thought you were referring to Fred Thompson as a 4th tier candidate as that’s sort of what the MSM did back during the campaign days of 2008.
When Roe v. Wade is overturned abortion will become a state's rights issue. Having a pro-abortion governor like Sink in office (your preferred candidate, apparently) will be such an advantage then, won't it? Beyond that though, why would such an idealist like yourself claim, while hoping to God that others follow, that you will be voting for an abortionist for governor? Are you "pro-choice?"
will either write in Mccollums name, leave the Governor's slot blank or bust my arm bubbling next to Sink on the ballot.
So, like you said earlier...
....you'll be voting for an Obama acolyte abortionist who wants to take our guns away, grant amnesty to illegals - and offer up open borders - while taking even more of your money to pay for it all. She's even going to make sure Obamacare doesn't get challenged by this state. Now tell us again about your supposed conservatism.....
If you could prove anything about the fraud you allege, along with all your other lies, you would. You can't explain why, with so much flagrant fraud, Rick Scott - the top of the fraud food chain, was never charged or even interviewed. You're the only one lying here.
The only truth you've offered here is that you will be supporting Alex Sink for governor and that you're thankful, thank God, that others will be joining you. That is one twisted display of conservative thought there, samantha.
I’d prefer Scott not be the nominee, obviously, but it is what it is.
That people can’t see what is at stake in 2010 amazes me. We have a majority in the Senate but NOT a 2/3 majority to overcome a veto from her. On the House side, we’ll get nothing through but the Dems will get their agenda through.
Sink has already said she will stop the lawsuit against Obama Care and not support a Virginia style Constitutional Amendment protecting Floridians from the federal take-over.
We’re working to get Bondi in as AG. Sink could tie her hands; forget ridding ourselves of sanctuary cities, forget a tough immigration bill, forget the death penalty! Sink has said she would, if elected, pull a Ryan and stop executions.
The progressive agenda, backed by Holder and Obama will run Florida, not Sink. Just wait until Scott’s team begins their anal probe of her, she’s and her husband are long-time white collar crooks. They’ve used their friendship with the Clinton’s and now Obama to keep their rears out of the sling. Being a progressive Dem has its advantages.
If this election did not give the Dems a chance to redistrict Florida into a decade long Blue State plus give Obama, or one of his philosophical twins, an advantage in 2012, I would happily sit this one out.
Keeping the Governors seat in GOP hands, while the FLRNC cleans themselves up (with serious cattle prodding by the locals) is more important to me than Slick Rick. Almost all of the gains we have made this last year will be for nothing if Sink wins.
When you get down to it, Scott is no more a criminal than McCain, yet I went into the voting booth and penned in the circle for him. I needed Lysol when I got out, but that was preferable to having Obama in the White House. Many Conservatives sat home rather than vote for McCain and/or Palin -
Has it been worth it?
Will putting Obama in a skirt into the Gov. mansion be different than Obama?
I’ll not stump for Scott or support his run. I will vote GOP in November; we have way to much to lose.
When I heard Thrasher was slated to take over for Greer, my heart sunk. He is after all, a good friend of Greer and supporter of Crist. The party was horrific in 2008 and is only marginally better today.
I’ve not looked into Day but I’ll check her out. What gives me hope are the locals, even in deep S. Florida where I am, our local leadership is not sitting on their heels, happy Greer is out. We removed people from chairmanship positions because they were Greer/Crist backers.
We want a full enema given to the FLRNC and there are few locals who are willing to back off.
Just a side note, where is Crist getting his support to be as high in the polls as he is? Even with Ras, Crist is doing better than he should be. Have enough Republicans failed to pay attention and are still supporting him or is he pulling support from the Dems?
I was crushed when Thrasher won not just because I know Sharon and how smart, strong, effective she is, but because he was too close to the likes of Greer. Sharon Day got a lot of votes, and she would have been perfect. She and her Husband moved to Broward in the 90âs from Ohio where they owned Insurance Agencies, and made a lot of Money so that she does not have to answer to money people. Our entire Executive Committee voted for her to pass on to the State Party Committeeman and Committeewoman when they had to vote for the RPOF Chairman. She lives in Broward still as far as I know near Las Olas. I first met Charlie when I was in Broward and a member of the Executive Committee. He was totally different politically but basically the same really likable person. I worked as many of his campaigns as I could before I realized he had no leadership ability and was a hanger-on just going from one job to another, never getting good at any of them. I think he is a lousy Lawyer also. Charlie is still a very compelling person, and is very warm and charming, great at the handshaking etc. I think he has some Democrat support, and independent, plus he will get a lot of the Republican Log Cabin Support, They have deep pockets and let’s face it, he speaks to them. We tried to get rid of Greer for two years, especially our Republican Women that he really screwed over constantly. He had his buddy in the Governor’s mansion that kept him on even after there were huge rumblings from the party faithful all over the State.
It’s funny, the first time I met Charlie and had a talk with him for longer than a handshake and quick greeting, the only thought going through my mind was “used car salesman”.
I’ve never liked the man and fail to see how others can if they get to know him. What should have damned him, even for those who like his type of personality, was his falling over Obama, let’s face it, Charlie came across as a school girl with her first crush. Pathetic.
One of my fondest political moments was watching Rubio turn Crist into a pile of Day-Glow Orange Goo during their debate on Fox. As Rubio moves up in the ranks within the GOP, pundits will look back on him (with Chris Wallace’s help) getting Crist to go on the record saying he would not run as an independent. Political history was made at that very moment!
We have two friends, gay conservatives, who have been together for well over 20 years. They LOVED Crist until he fawned over Obama and then went Indie. What I’ve learned from them is that there are way more Conservative and/or moderate Republicans within the gay community than we are led to believe (just as there are way more Jews and Blacks in the party). Crist still enjoys support from moderate gay Republicans but their numbers are not enough to sway an election.
Our friends are now solidly in Rubio’s corner financially and GOTV missions. They are maxed out in donations for Rubio and also Allen West. Politics makes strange bedfellows, eh?
I fully expect Greer to roll over on others within the GOP leadership; there is no way he’s going to go down himself. The Dems will use Greer and the FLRNC’s problems against us and our candidates for the general. Grayson, as an example, is doing this as is the fake Tea Party (who btw, looks like they had their rear ends handed to them in the primaries).
We’ve got to be ready to counter this and clear the names of our candidates who are not involved, but will be smeared by association alone. That means making sure our local GOP groups have strong, principled leadership. My Miami-Dade Women’s GOP as example, has been led by the same women for years - Greer/Crist supporters all. We’ve rid ourselves of the most obvious G&C supporters and have a few more to get rid of and the membership will.
After the general we’ve got to clear up the State party. Right now people are working to get our candidates through the general, once our people are sworn in, come January, expect major infighting. It’s a damned good thing too; when was the last time we’ve been handed the opportunity to clean house? With two distinct groups fighting for the direction and leadership of the national GOP, we’ve got to have strong State parties.
Fine, so how are you going to cast YOUR vote Nov. 2nd???
“Ill have to figure out how to pick up the cleanest end of the piece of sh*t; I will NOT vote against my country which will happen if we do not keep the Gov. seat in GOP hands.
If anyone is blind its those who do not realize how bad Sink would be if she and the DNC are handed Florida.”
I wish I could say that I agree, however, would say it’s already tooooo late and agree fully with the following:
http://atlah.org/atlahworldwide/?p=9535
I read your link - a letter to Dr. Manning; just what does it have to do with keeping the Fl Gov. office in the hands of the GOP?
We should give it to the Dems because the GOP hasn’t been helpful with outing Obama’s eligibility to hold office?
That blacks are being called Uncle Tom’s, traitors, accused of following their slave masters by voting GOP so the Dems deserve to win?
I’m not getting your point here.
It was the Dems that put Obama into office and allowing Obama in a skirt to waltz right in, somehow will benefit our side; or Sink out of the goodness of her heart will open up an investigation into how Obama was certified to run in Florida in the 08 elections without verifying his eligibility?
The only commonality you’ve given me is Obama. My contention is simple; with that man destroying our country from the WH, we’ve got to keep our States in control of the GOP (and as many US House/Senate seats as we can grab) as a counter to him.
Sink has said she will order Fl’s ObamaCare lawsuit to be pulled, will not sign an Arizona style immigration bill ready to pass the Fla Legislature, and to top it off, I was sent a link (will have to dig into my history) where she plans overturn the will of Floridians by using Executive Orders to change the definition of marriage away from One man, One Woman.
We have enough people in the GOP who do not listen to us, but for ever single Lindsay Graham/McCain you can point out, I can point out a Pence or a King who does listen and is on our side.
The long-term goal of Florida Conservative activists and Tea Party groups was to first get Obama supporting/Soros backed, so called Blue-Dog Dems and nutcase Dems like Grayson voted out of office, with our candidate replacing them. Along with that, we were trying to rid ourselves of as many McCainiac pols as possible with the long term goal of clearing out our despicable RINO’s.
Scott threw many activists and traditional Republicans for a loop and once again we’re forced to vote against our better judgement and principles to keep the seat in our hands.
This is the same point I’m trying to get across on the Florida board to Scott supporters. I’m telling them to give me tangible evidence I can point to when I’m trying to convince our side to throw their support on Scott. Instead of answering legitimate questions, I’m attacked, McCollum is attacked, issues are flat out not answered or I’m simply told “get over it he won”. That’s gonna go a long way in convincing people to vote for him or support him, isn’t it?
When I get home from DC for our Sept 12 trip and vacation, I’ll buckle down and start making daily phone calls on behalf of candidates, I’ll be out there every weekend with candidate booth, attending meetings/rallies during the week and working my rear off.
Since I can’t get a single bit of tangible evidence to point to as to why someone should support or vote for Scott, I’ll simply tell them why I’m willing to vote for him and what is at stake by handing the seat to the Dems; I hope the fear of putting Obama in a skirt as the head of our state can overcome those who fear Scott.
Just to brush up on the bigger issue, that if anyone think that this Florida election, or the national for that matter, will make any difference in our present political scandal situation, I think they need to wake up like Manning is stating!
Nothing will change, because the newcomers in Tallahassee and Washington D.C. (District of Columbia) are told in advance: "You play OUR game, or else???" And most of them will cave in as they have in the past aligning themselves with the outsider lobbies pressure and corruption and forget everything about their constituents. Unfortunately those are the facts!!
I had to hold my nose 2008 for McPain knowing he was not eligible either, as I have to hold my nose Nov. 2 on the govnr. race!!!
