Believe it or not, Rick Scott is your Republican nominee for Florida governor.
Here are some highlights from his victory speech tonight in Ft. Lauderdale:
Remember me, the handsome bald guy? With a deep sense of humility, Im here tonight to accept the Republican nomination for the office of governor of our great state of Florida.
The Republican party will come together, and the reason we will come together is our shared devotion to values that make America great.
Voters took a chance on me today. They know Im not a politician. I didnt come up through the political ranks. They know it was not my turn to be governor. But the voters also know this, that our state and our nation have been headed in the wrong direction for quite a while. People know that government cannot continue to expand, cannot continue to spend more than you make, cannot keep piling up record debt each and every year. Its a mistake.

Heres what Republican Party of Florida Chairman John Thrasher had to say about Rick Scott last week:
“Over the last several weeks and in an escalated manner this weekend, Rick Scott has orchestrated a multifaceted campaign of misinformation in an effort to mislead Florida voters and confuse the facts surrounding the arrest and indictment of Jim Greer as well as the Party’s financial situation and preparedness to support our candidates as we move towards the November election. Mr. Scott’s repeated attacks come straight from Jim Greer and the Florida Democrats’ talking points and seek to diminish and destroy the credibility of the Party we have worked so hard to rebuild following the Crist/Greer era.”
Now Thrashers job is to work to get Scott elected Governor. Sure wouldnt want that job. Good luck John.
This so important to have a Republican Governor in a redistricting year.
I am worried that Scott will loose to the Democrat.
Scott has the Medicare fraud hanging over his
head. I guess it did not matter in the primary. but, it will be big in a general election.
I am a sad Floridian this morning.
I am not wrong about this, and that is one of the reasons I fought so hard to keep a criminal from moving on. This is not about just politics this is about normal everyday people making excuses for and backing a criminal to be our Governor. We held our noses before and voted for Crist over Gallagher in the primary even though Crist had already shown he was a lousy Leader, Gallagher was tainted. We also held our noses and voted for that scum Mel Martinez, we will not again. At least Martinez was not a criminal con artist with deep pockets. You do not know what SLick Rick would do, he is so unethical, but thank God we will never have to know the depths that he will sink to as Florida Chief Executive. Scott’s crap will taint the entire slate of Republicans in November, especially since there are already law suits and more to come. Can you imagine what the Democrats can find on Slick RIck, and how many former employees of Scott’s that know his fraudulent behavior will come out and talk? I took an oath to back Republican Candidates when running against a Rat, but that oath did not mean I must throw away my ethical standards and support a really dirty supposed Republican. I do not believe that the Governor has the Power to intervene in what the Attorney General has already started, but if that is not the case then who in the hell will be responsible? There has been months to think long and hard on this. Decent people do not vote for Criminals....
Maybe you could link us to any formal charges against him as well as any convictions.
Alex Sink will be the next Governor because she might be a dirty Democrat, but at least she is not a dirty crook.
You told me on an earlier thread that you would vote for Sink if Scott were the Republican nominee. Now he's the nominee and you're on the FR defending an Obama acolyte who supports killing unborn babies, taking our guns away, open borders and taxing us even more than we already are.
Explain yourself. Why will you be voting for an Obama loving, abortionist Democrat, while calling yourself a conservative?
I don’t know why he DIDN’T Mike. If Scott deserves to go to jail, indict him and let the court decide. But having Sink as our Governor is as bad if not worse than having Obama.
All I know as of right now and when I made that post was McCollum conceded and Scott is the primary winner as long as that holds true I’ll back whoever is running against the Dem.
I’d much rather have McCollum win, he had our vote, contributions, have his sign in my yard STILL and talked people into switching from Scott to him.
Look at my reply to Mike Evers
How many of us went to our local RNC precincts and demanded Greer be taken out of the leadership role and were happy to see him indicted? Thrasher was moving us in the right direction, now we’ll have to see what this does to the FLRNC.
At least we have Bondi in as AG and Rubio as our Senator.
Rubio should have run for gov..
“Scott led the fight, blah, blah, blah” so the Clintons came after him? Give me a break.
They went after dozens of companies, and Scott’s was the biggest with the most fraud. But of course he didn’t know what they were doing over in the billing department. Yeah, right.
Nor did Scott know his doc-in-the-boxes were having MDs sign claims for services actually rendered by nurse practitioners. Another billing department SNAFU? Yeah, right.
It the “throw the bums out” crowd wants to let the Pied Piper come in with his millions and buy the nomination based on his “conservative” principles, so be it. You get what he paid for.
By the way, how many abortions did Scott say his hospitals performed? I forget the number. Can one of his “conservative” supporters out there remind me?
Look at post 41 - Scott did not come out of the RPOF - I’ve never seen them go that hard against anyone, including Crist when he switched.
If Thrasher is right, we’re screwed either way we go in November - I”ll tell you this though, I will NOT under ANY Circumstances vote Dem. Period. End of discussion on that matter.
So what do we do not Mike.
We can’t simply hand the governors office over to a pro-Obama, pro-ObamaCare Democrat. We went with Bondi, because she is the best person for the job and also because she will keep up McCollum’s lawsuit AND has already been working on our defense/appeal when Justice sues us for passing an AZ type immigration bill.
Push a write-in campaign for McCollum?
Talk him into running as an Independent?
Give up?
What now?
not = now, btw
OK. I won’t vote for Sink.
But I won’t vote for Scott either. He can’t buy my vote like he did all these poor “conservative” lemmings who want to “throw the bums out” regardless of character.
Scott’s depositions will eventually be produced, and it won’t be pretty. But at least he’s “conservative.”
BTW, if Scott is so good for Florida’s “conservatives” why did their champion Sarah Palin endorse Bondi for AG but not Rick Scott for Governor? Could it be all those abortions Scott’s hosptials performed? Yeah, that might have turned off Palin. But apparently not the rest of Florida’s “conservatives.”
Probably too late for McCollum to run as an Independent. Not sure what the filing requirements are.
Maybe Scott will be indicted before November and the Party forces him to step aside. Long shot, but stranger things have happened.
Or maybe he just spends the rest of his millions telling Floridians what a horrible person Alex Sink is and pound her through the pavement like he did McCollum. Yeah, that’s the ticket.
That may be the oddest post of the day.
I didn’t even find out his HCA performed elective abortions until yesterday morning. Why the HELL wasn’t McCollum pushing that?
I can’t believe that a person, with the baggage Scott has, was favored by conservatives of this state; even after he refused to debate McCollum and sent his mother in his place!!!!
The PBC Women’s Republican Party has put on a GOP debate for decades - Palm Beach, an area we have GOT to move back to solid red (for Allen if nothing else, plus they keep screwing us) and Scott stands them up. Not good, oh not good at all.
I’m simply trying to figure out what direction the grass-roots should take.
McCollum running as an independent is one possibility; given the complications that would arise from such a decision, supporting it may not be a good position for the party to take.
We don’t have enough time to find another candidate nor the money to back them even if we did.
This still leaves us with Scott or Sink - what a clusterf*ck
don’t worry the GOPinsiders are still backing Crist.
