GOP primaries will be closed during the NEXT election.

That did not help us this time however.

McCain still sucks... and Dream Warrior still approves this message.

“McCain spent $20 million. That is $20,000,000, JD spent $2.5 million”

It disgusts me even more that McCain spent money intended to defeat BHO for his lameness in the Senate. What a FAILED bid in 2008. Now we have to put up with him for at least 6 more years. He won’t have $20M next time - will he???!!! How creepy that he spent that money, and is the author of ‘campaign reform.’ What a total JOKE that is.

I said inspirational; not comical.

I know, that was tongue-in-cheek.

comity = comical (NOT, I know that)

It doesn’t seem doubtful to me that if Palin had endorsed Hayworth instead of McCain, John Judas would now be facing several months as a lameduck Senator instead of six more years of betraying conservatism.

Exactly. And these insipid, mewling Palinistas can't have it both ways, they can't say that their heroine makes such a big difference in whatever race she pokes her proboscis into, and then try to say that it "didn't make any difference in Arizona" when it most certainly did. They, like their idol are spinners and dissemblers.

But that would have required a courageous, principled stand instead of mere personal political ambition.

You mean the kind of personal political ambition that would motivate a certain undeclared presidential candidate, after months and months of her followers urging everyone to donate to HER political action committee, to suddenly begin sending money to the GOP-RNC again, because she has flip-flopped and chosen to help Michael Steele and the rest of the establishment RINOs that her acolytes used to rail against?

It's hilarious. Palin supporters want all the credit in the world when some candidate somewhere wins because of a Palin endorsement, but when it comes to McCain, well, he would have won anyhow, so...

We are SO doomed.

Yes, Obama’s massive over-reaching waked the masses of apathetic middle class voters. This will result in an eventual recapture of the US House and Senate by Republicans. But to what end? If all we have is Socialist light in there, we are screwed for the ages.

We need smaller government. We need to reject all of the big government liberal Republicans like McCain. Without new conservative blood in the GOP, we are completely and totally doomed.

I’m not shocked McCain won. Voters are still idiots by and large and I’m not surprised that the big name beat the little name. That tends to be how it works.

I am furious, but not surprised. Arizona deserves great shame for re-electing this liberal idiot. Arizona deserves better but not if they keep re-electing liberal idiot Republicans.

A low profile candidate with eloquence and intellect is better than a high profile buffoon. I refuse to believe that there aren’t any qualified people in certain states. I think it’s more of a question of money for running a campaign and commitment.

Why has the drug violence been on the increase when you hardly heard of it when the Republicans has both houses of Congress?

Yeah, I realized that after looking into it. I’m on the other side of the country most of the time so the only thing I ever heard about McCain’s election were the folks around here working hard against him ... the news of his fund raising advantages, etc. didn’t even break the papers.

Guess it’s true ... all politics is local. In this one, suffered from the Freeper feedback loops, I suppose =)

Congress has an 11% approval rating yet voters send 75%+ of incumbents back to DC.

I guess the approval ratings question should be changed to approval of congressmen from other states and districts since voters obviously like their own.

Arizona, the immigration law was a step in the right direction. This was two steps back.

Now, the Republicans have to win one more seat to gain a majority.

Because the drug cartels have been getting bolder and bolder. There was a drug problem before but now it’s out of hand. The drug cartels are now into human smuggling. They get paid to bring them across the border and make them carry the drugs in backpacks. You also have rival drug cartels batteling each other. I is different, can’t explain it. It’s like leaving your door open and first just the neighbors come in and take a few things, but soon the word gets around and then everyone is there helping themselves.

In JD’s old district #5, the GOP turnout was 59,000 compared to 24,000 Dems.
How could JD have lost this heavy GOP district to Harry Mitchell in 2006, unless he was an inept congressman?

If I live in that state, I’d go ahead and vote for the Democrat over Juan.

Me too. Better a known enemy than a false friend. McCain needs to go down this year, one way or another.

The dems didn’t have any contested races. Harry Mitchel1 was basically unopposed, so don’t look at the dem turnout. All over the state most races were either unopposed or had a token entry that garnered maybe 140 votes.

I’ve been supporting Arizona in their fight against illegals. Now, I wouldn’t complain if we gave it back to Mexico.

Yep — no way is Hayworth going to be able to raise enough $$$ to run a meaningful campaign as an independent.
