Displaced people are camping everywhere. Shelters of canvas and plastic sheeting line the edges of the highways linking Islamabad to Peshawar in the north-west of the country.
The roads are raised, a precious strip of dry land in a sea of stagnant floodwater and thick mud.
I stopped at one makeshift camp and a group of men rushed forward as soon as I got out of the car, crowding round.
One was a thin-faced man in his 40s called Iftikhar.
He pointed to the swamped ground beyond the railway tracks and the remains of his village. His house had been badly damaged, he said.
Even though the waters were starting to recede, it was too unstable for him to move back there with his six daughters.
We desperately need help from the government, so we can rebuild," he told me.

I don’t know which side to choose anymore, sometimes the Paki’s are fer us, sometimes not. Our relations with India always seem strained even though we have outsourced many jobs to them. Seems like most countries we help eventually turn against us. I don’t want anyone to live without food, water and clothing but I’m also tired of being bit in the butt by ungrateful persons who will never lift a finger to help my children and they will scorn them along the way. I am out of ideas but I think that throwing good money after bad doesn’t help me or them. Do you have an plan to reduce corruption? We can try it out in Mexico to begin with and then move on to others in need.
They weren’t. They were just trying to provide good government for the their colonies. The Hindus learned how to imitate them. The Muslims didn’t.
Sadly they would have built the ark with our donations...

If we are able to show the Paki’s that the US stands behind their misery, and truly wishes to help them out, the potential goodwill may just pay itself back many, many times over.

There is some lame HBO special being broadcast now that has the residents of NO whining about how no one is doing things for them.
I didn't hear a peep from people to the north when the rains came this year. All that destruction and they picked things up and started to do things for themselves, yet the leftists down in NO sit around with their thumbs up their collective butt and wait for everyone else to do for them.
They are truly pathetic and so are all these other third world countries that do the same thing.

What about Muslim countries? Some are very wealthy. And we are told that charity is one of their five pillars.
That said, I would be careful around this story. The BBC is famous for “just making it up.” And their news bureaus are staffed by people with a pathological hatred for America. Apparently a precondition for employment there.
Duuude...wish I'd of known. I know that place like the back of my hand, including the history involved with the mill and the indians that lived in the area. And prolly could of put y'all on a few fish. In my young and dumb days of being a 16 year old, two friends and I floated from where the entry trail intersects the creek down to the falls. After we got to the rough water, I deeply regretted that decision but couldn't do nothing about it at that point. Love that jewel of a park.
I don't follow the advice of entitlement-mentality looters but it's obvious these Pakis do. They will hate us no matter what we do.
I want to bring our troops home, focus on true safety and security for our country. Make defensive preperations, stock foods and practice war drills, focus on defensive missle systems, lock down our borders, rout out any and all seditious peoples, kick out all immigrants without visible means of support, end all anchor citizenship retroactive twenty years, and kick out all Islamists. Profile all radicals and get rid of most all laws. Not necessarily in that order.
I am become less Republican and more libertarian by the minute.
