My chat with JD Hayworth...

OK, so before I get started I have to tell everyone here that JD Hayworth reads what we post here. And he REMEMBERS! LOL! I am a JD supporter, and several months ago when I met him for the first time, he told me he likes to come here to FreeRepublic and read what we have to say. I was going to have him come here, but I never followed through, which was my fault. However, I have been hard on him in recent weeks.

I have to say that because Mohave County, where I live, is so conservative, conservative candidates take us for granted. Mohave County is NOT McCain land, so it's hard for me to gauge what's really going on around the State. I hadn't seen many JD ads and frankly, McCain is spending all his money attacking (in a very ugly manner) Hayworth. If everyone in Mohave would get off their asses and vote, we'd sway this election and there'd be no more Senator McCain. But we all know that's not the way it works.

However, someone high up in Republican politics from Phoenix told me the other day that she believes JD has a very strong chance as she knows NOBODY who is voting for McCain. So although I don't see the campaign too much here in Mohave, I understand now that he has been working really hard in Maricopa where elections are won and lost. That made me feel better as I slipped into my seat at the Mohave County Republican Picnic today.

I saw Hayworth and went over to say hello. The first thing he did was hug me and then ask me why I've turned on him! (Of course, this was all done with a smile on both our faces)...He proceeded to recite back to me some of the things I've written here on FR. LOL! I DON'T EVEN REMEMBER WHAT I WRITE FROM DAY TO DAY..the guy has an incredible memory!

So, I know he's reading this now, and I have to tell you that he must have taken his "adorable pills" because he was sweet and adorable and NOT bombastic like I have said in the past!

Seriously, the bottom line is we must defeat McCain. If only that Jim Deakins (who is a nut and I hope he's reading this too) would have done the right thing and stepped aside, I'd feel much better about everything today.

My support for JD has never swayed. I support him, I'm voting for him and I am asking everyone from Arizona to vote for him on Tuesday.

GOOD LUCK ON TUESDAY, J.D.!!!!

“I TOLD YOU SO!!!.”

Well, it’s Wednesday and I haven’t heard anything so I guess things didn’t work out.

I predicted 24% and it stands right now at 24.02%. I forgot about Leroy and Merabeth Higgenbotham down in Douglas or I would have been closer.

That’s enough gloating, I predicted the same outcome in March and April. This election was precast.

When the insurgent challenge became apparent McCain had to do two things. First he had to solidify his base and then he had to contain the insurgency. He had the time and the money to do both.

To do the first he had to mend fences with Romney. Mormons are the backbone of the Republican Party in Arizona. They are not the majority but they are effective and influential beyond their numbers. They are remarkably tolerant of other religions until they are slighted or one of their members attacked. McCain has always had a good relationship with them but he had run against Romney and there were the stories of bad blood. McCain needed to bring Romney in to quell the impression and to bolster his base.

There are around 25 percent of Republicans who are Anti-McCain no matter what. They have always been there. They were automatically in the insurgent camp. The question was: How much further would it go? How far into the ranks would they be able to influence votes? He had to put a cap on what was a result of the internecine wars in Maricopa County which had spilled out under the banner of a popular cause. This is what he needed Sarah Palin to do, to cap it.

Just from talking to people and my experience I guessed that the anti-McCain forces were around 45%, split between Hayworth and Deakins. That is a sizable figure and that is why you kept hearing the Palin ads. I doubt that she added more than a handful of votes to McCain’s total but she kept many from leaving and kept Hayworth from gaining traction. The question was as to how that 45% was split. I took an informed guess and that is where I got my 24%.

After the Romney appearance, the informal networks which are the Republican Party began to come to life, tentative at first but stronger each day, and the money began to flow. The negative ads reinforced this. The message was: McCain was an acceptable candidate, Hayworth was not. I could have saved McCain about $15 million. There are other audio and video clips out there from when Hayworth was a congressman. They don’t have the shock value of the Free Money Clips but they would have been damaging in their own right.

McCain was never going to lose this election. It just wasn’t anywhere in the cards. The only question was the margin of victory. He didn’t want to be like Goldwater, forever stained by a 5000 vote win in his last go-around. He was willing to spend the money to do it. And now it’s history.

Yes, you were right and I was wrong. Let’s just hope he realizes the only way he can save his legacy is by acting like a Conservative. He saw what it did for Jan Brewer...Plus the fact he hates Obama. We know his nasty side..let’s hope he lets it out against Obama in the next several years. What choice do we have?

To: Hildy; All

Is anyone surprised that 2 days after the Primary, J.D. still has not called McCain and congratulated him? Greta VanSusteren really made J.D. look bad on her show tonight, calling him a “sore loser” as McCain said he was “not surprised” by J.D. lack of class.

McCain lied through his teeth about JD. Spent millions lying about his character...I don’t blame JD. I don’t.

Yeah, well I also heard Grrrrrrrrrrrrrreta repeating the same MSM mantra, "The President took time out of his vacation to ....."blah, blah, blah.

Never, ever forget, these talking heads in the media will turn on you just as fast as they will blink their eyes, Grrrrrrrrrrreta's no exception, nor are others on FNC.

What she should have asked McCain is, "Why were you willing to say so many things about JD that you were unwilling to say about Obama during the last election? Why would you spend so many of your family's millions defeating such a 'small fry' as JD that you refused to step up and do to win the Presidency? What's so special about your Senate seat that's more special than the U.S. Presidency?"

Now those would be some questions worth asking and listening to, IMHO.

Hi JD, love you in KC (remember your time at a dinner with us?)
