First Rush, then Coulter, and Now Glenn Beck ... What’s Happening?

Commentary by John-Henry Westen

NEW YORK, August 12, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Appearing on The O’Reilly Factor yesterday, famed conservative Fox News host Glenn Beck may have shocked many Americans by noting that he was not very concerned about homosexual 'marriage.'

O’Reilly asked Beck, “Do you believe that gay marriage is a threat to the country in any way?” Beck replied, “No, I don't,” adding sarcastically, “Will the gays come and get us?”

After being pressed again on the question, Beck said, “I believe -- I believe what Thomas Jefferson said. If it neither breaks my leg nor picks my pocket, what difference is it to me?”  Showing his own surprise, O’Reilly remarked, “Okay, so you don't. That's interesting. Because I don't think a lot of people understand that about you.”

The Glenn Beck revelation comes on the heels of two other startling announcements by conservative celebrity pundits in the last couple of weeks.  Earlier this week it was announced that conservative pundit Ann Coulter would headline a fundraiser for the homosexual activist group within the Republican Party, GOProud.  And on July 29, although his position had been revealed before, talk radio host Rush Limbaugh again came out in favor of homosexual civil unions, while being opposed to same-sex ‘marriage.’

To be fair, it must be pointed out that Beck said he was looking at the ‘big picture’ and promoting faith, the answer to all such things.  Moreover, he added that he was okay with gay ‘marriage’ with a caveat.  “As long as we are not going down the road of Canada, where it now is a problem for churches to have free speech. If they can still say, hey, we oppose it,” he said.

But even to have suggested, as strongly as he did, that he was not opposed to gay ‘marriage’ is detrimental and demonstrates a ‘small picture’ approach.

Beck seems like a good guy. He’s thoughtful.  He’s right on many matters in the culture war.  For instance, when O’Reilly followed up and asked if Beck thought abortion threatened the United States, Beck replied dramatically in the affirmative.  “Abortion is killing, it’s killing, you’re killing someone,” he said.

So I thought it’d be worth it to calmly and persuasively share concerns with Beck on his approach.  He may not read my email, but I’m sure if enough pro-family folks were to get the message to him, he’d reconsider his outlook.

Here’s Beck’s email:

And here’s the gist of what I wrote:

Laws teach people what is right and wrong and thus homosexual acts will implicitly be given the stamp of approval where such legal recognition is granted.  The young will be given the false impression that this behavior is safe and acceptable, or even good.

Society has a duty to legally recognize and support married couples since they are, through procreation, the source for the continuation of human life and thus society itself.  Homosexual couples cannot properly procreate and thus have no such claim to societal recognition.

The question is not so much about marriage, but about homosexual acts.  The acts are harmful to the individuals who engage in them. They are harmful physically, emotionally and spiritually.

With regard to persons engaged in such behavior or identifying with it, there must never be unjust discrimination.  All gay bashing, name-calling and the like should be condemned.  However, there must be discrimination on this front, a just discrimination, to preserve societal recognition for marriage between one man and one woman.

They didn’t like being linked to coverage of the Folsom Street Fair.
I don’t know why.

The homosexual agenda is all about using the force of law - usually judicial fiat, as the Prop 8 decision to overturn yet again the majority of voters in the Great State of California by one judge who just happens to be a homosexual - to force everyone else to cater to the demands of people who self-identify as “gay”.

Thus destorying several rights enshrined in the Bill of Rights such as freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and additionally the freedom of association.

It’s all about a tiny minority (fluid, as many leave the “gay” life) forcing their will on everyone else. If that isn’t tyranny, I don’t know what is.

Whatever...you simply have too hard of a heart to see the broken part of humanity that are the gays. I am broken, albiet in different ways than gays are. The alcoholic is broken, the liar is broken, the coveter is broken, the idolator is broken......we all are broken. But, only gays are singled out and punished. I just don’t see that helping them ever come to Christ. I think we are repelling lost souls by fighting against them. Jesus treated lepers as equals, prostitutes as equal, tax cheats as equals. That is how he won so many. I’m just saying...

Are liars or alcoholics demanding special rights dependent solely on their particular vice? Are there “Liar Pride” parades? Demanding that hate speech condemning lying be criminalized? Demanding that they be hired despite their habit of lying?

Telling any people who sin that their sin is not a sin and they are fine just as they are is the exact opposite of the way to help them know God. It’s helping them to go to hell. Jesus spoke very clearly to sinners - he told them to stop sinning and follow the instructions of God in scripture. He never said “there, there - stay in the muck of sin. God loves you just as you are, don’t change to try to please Him, just stay rolling in dirt”.

Are you nuts? Do you realize you are writing utter nonsense?

Are you nuts? Do you realize you are writing utter nonsense?

It was emotion based rants that had nothing to do with reality or truth.

No wonder-viewing that kind of thing can make one’s arguments for the homosexual agenda seem absurd.

Global, the homosexual activists are targetting Catholicism in general and the Pope in particular. They have special hatred and venom for Catholicism because it does not bend to the “gay” agenda, as many Protestant denominations have done.

The Catholic Church are one of the main targets of the homosexual agenda pushers right now, and they mean business. They want to silence the Church and indeed anyone who speaks out against homosexuality or the agenda by force of law - “hate speech” is on the table. They want to destroy freedom of religion. This is very much about anti-Catholicism and anti-religious freedom.

Even for those conservatives that differ with gays on the social issues, why reject their support on nearly every other aspect of movement conservatism?

***********************

Because that's not their objective. Their first objective is the homosexual agenda.

“The real shame right now is how many “conservatives” are now cheerleaders for the “gay” agenda, many right here on this thread! “

It’s amazing how archly hypocritical they are and don’t see it. They are BLIND. All this is part of prophecy, as you know.

Global, the day after Massachusetts judges (actually one judge) decided that homosexual marriage was the law in the state, the head of the education department (or whatever it’s called) in MA said that every public school in the state had to teach that same sex marriage and homosxuality were equal to normal family and marriage and sexual relations.

So kids in kindergarten are now taught that same sex acts and relationships are perfectly normal, healthy and just as good as a mommy and a daddy and kids. Not only that, but older kids are taught the how-tos and basically indoctrinated in “gay is good”.

This is just one aspect of changing the natural law meaning of marriage to a fake, unnatural legal definition - against the will of the people even!

It is tyranny in a nutshell.

Thank you for posting that ... it is clear to me at least that Glenn Beck is trying with all his heart to renew ‘a moral people’ to revive the Republic. And I’m not talking Mormons, I’m talking Beck wants ALL God fearing people in America to renew their relationship with The Almighty and be guided toward moral choices instead of herded by bloodsucking politicians into going along with evil in our midst.

It does pick our pockets when our tax dollars are spent on treating AIDS patients...
____________________________________________________________

Disease spread in gay/bisexual men is especially problematic because this lifestyle almost always includes multiple sexual partners. More partners means more disease.
(Remember, condoms offer little or no protection against the spread of many diseases.) In addition, homosexual men living the gay lifestyle have a higher rate of depression, pornography use, alcoholism, drug abuse and suicide. [11,12]

We all need to be compassionate toward those men trapped in this unhealthy lifestyle. But legitimizing homosexual marriage or civil unions will undoubtedly encourage experimentation in this lifestyle. From a medical and ethical perspective, this will have tragic consequences for individuals as well as society.

What About AIDS?

From 1981 through 1999, there were 751,965 cumulative reported cases of AIDS in the U.S. At least 56 percent of the AIDS diagnoses occurred in gay or bisexual men. In other words, two percent of the population had at least 56 percent of those reported AIDS diagnoses. The second largest group was IV drug users. What about heterosexual sex? In the U.S., persons who have been infected with HIV through heterosexual contact have usually had vaginal or anal intercourse with someone in one of the high-risk categories — a bisexual male or someone who is an IV drug user. [13]

In the past 17 years, medications to combat HIV have been developed, which has decreased the numbers of persons with HIV progressing to an AIDS disease. A person diagnosed with HIV will be put on a complicated drug regimen (three or four drugs). The patient will be on these drugs, which have very unpleasant side effects, for life. However, one catastrophic problem combating HIV is that a person who is HIV-positive and receiving medication is still able to infect other people. The number of people in the U.S. that are HIV-positive has continued to grow. There are approximately 42,000 Americans infected with HIV each year (74 percent men, 26 percent women). The CDC estimates that 25 percent of persons who are HIV-positive are unaware they are infected, and 50 percent of all new diagnoses occur in persons younger than 25 years. Persons who have other sexually transmitted diseases (with sores) have a two-to-three times greater risk for becoming infected with HIV. It is now estimated that there are between 900,000 and 1,000,000 persons in the U.S. who are HIV-positive (included in that estimate are 400,000 to 450,000 gay/bisexual men). The medical community anticipates that there will soon be a large increase in AIDS; in the first three months of this year, there have already been 8,910 new cases diagnosed.

In addition to the physical, psychological, and emotional devastation of HIV/AIDS is the high cost of treatment. The wholesale cost for the combination drug therapies treating HIV is about $14,000 annually per patient. (Medication costs can be much higher depending on the drugs included in the regimen.) A study completed in 2002 estimated that costs treating patients who had progressed to an AIDS disease were around $34,000 annually per patient. [14] Variations in this approximation include medications, hospitalization, diagnostic costs and clinic costs. The health care costs of AIDS diseases and drugs for treating HIV have impacted your health insurance premiums tremendously. The direct costs of HIV/AIDS are similar to other very serious illnesses; however, the indirect costs are higher since HIV affects predominantly working-age persons. [15]
