Will Kate Gosselin hurt Sarah Palin's political career when the two moms appear together on Palin's new TLC show in November?

Slideshows: Palin's Changing Looks | Two Years Of Kate’s Changing Looks

As silly as that sounds, the pundits are starting to talk after TLC announced late Friday that Gosselin would appear on "Sarah Palin's Alaska" sometime in November, after the fall general elections.

Palin is a presumptive presidential candidate for 2012 and has already released one video that appears to be a campaign advertisement.

In the time before the 2012 election, Palin is writing books, doing the TLC series and appearing on Fox News as a contributor.

But does an extended photo of with a reality TV star who is a magnet for the paparazzi and bad press the best decision for Palin.

If Goeslin determines the nominee we deserve to loose the Republic.

From what I have read, Sarah was an angel dealing with that diva. No real camp outs for her and her spoiled brats.

That family should never be allowed anywhere near a tv show.

You need a hobby to get over your obsession with “Precious.”

I guess sitting in your garage, wearing your tin foil hat, and hoping some will sign up for your make-believe Falcon Party doesn’t cut it. Maybe there’s something at the Senior Center (like bingo or post card collections) that might interest you.

You have photos of your lovely daughter on your "about" page...let me ask, do you have any guarantees they will not make the same mistakes as Sarah's daughter when she gets older? No, you don't...no matter how hard you try, it is a non-predictable scenario...a crap shoot. Happens in the best of families.

Now, announce yourself for office and undergo the anal exam that Sarah Palin has had to endure; let them uncover all of your closet skeletons and family members with a microscope, and let's see how you fare? Let's see how any of us fare.

Also, I supposed - being put under the scrutiny that she has - you would never make a mis-statement, make a mis-judgement or any mistakes whatsoever, huh?

Meanwhile no one says a word about the Kennedys, the Gores, etc., and all of their "Jerry Springer" moments, do they?My children don't want to be judged by things I have don, and vice-versa.

It's easy to stand on the sideline and be judgemental or holier-than-thou.

At this point I'm looking at who can lead, who ticks off the left the most, and who could win. Romney is obama-lite, Huckleberry is a televangelist, and Newt ain't got a chance...and Jerry Springer ain't running.

This series is supposed to be about Alaska which I think could be a great thing. But Kate Gosselin? It is getting too bizarro! How many Wounded Warriors would love a chance to explore Alaska with Sarah Palin? Maybe a fishing trip, camping, etc. That would be more interesting to me.

I have to answer the question with 2 additional questions.

Has Kate ever been to Alaska? She’s an east coaster by birth.

What can Kate add to our knowledge of Alaska?

OK. I have a third question.

Why in God’s name is Sarah wasting her time on a reality show wannabe celebrity? Were Michaele and Tareq Salahi unavailable?

Seems a bit of a contradiction there, eh? Iz you iz or iz you ain’t?

As I indicated in post #59 on this thread, Ronald Reagan studied and spoke on public issues for years before he ever ran for office. What's more, he had a powerful voice, was a quick thinker on his feet, and was stunningly articulate in defense of liberty. Whatever else one might say about Sarah Palin, I don't think that yet describes her.

Nor does she really have enough of a "track record" to run on, conservative or otherwise. Two years as Alaska governor is more executive experience than Obama ever had, but it's still not a whole lot. And she's got "baggage" now, unfair as that may be: association with the losing McCain campaign. Quitting the governor's job mid-way through her term did not help, nor did her team's disastrous decision to allow her to be interviewed by that piranha in a pantsuit on CBS. The very public Palin family soap opera has also hurt her chances, I think.

For all these reasons, and in spite of my admiration for Sarah as a real patriot and a conservative, I have become convinced that we'd be better off with a truly fresh face in 2012.

That’s fine. You vote for who you want. Why do you think you have the right to denigrate others who want to make their own choice? I am not the least bit jealous of Palin. I think she’s a nice woman. I don’t think she is the right choice for president, although she would be a far sight better than what we have.

What worked brilliantly for Reagan was that whenever he opened his mouth, on whatever subject, he proved his detractors wrong. And he did so not only by force of knowledge, but with a plain-spoken eloquence that reflected his belief in the idea of America and of her essential goodness. If Sarah can learn to do that, people will certainly listen.

I will opine as a mother of a son Bristol’s age. There are more times that I would like to admit that my son had been an absolute bonehead, I will not deny that. I can sympathize with Sarah, Bristol seems to be hardheaded and learns the hard way, have one of my own.

That being said, I am sick to death of the Bristol Levi soap opera!!!! Just on Sat. Bristol is back in People mag. with a pout on her face talking about her breakup!!! Enough!!!

If it were my kid, 20, 25, with or without a kid it would be ON!!!! I’m 47 and my mom can still put me in my place!!!

Sarah Palin is honest, but not an intellectual powerhouse, either.

Franklin Roosevelt was not an intellectual powerhouse either. He definitely wasn't honest. One doesn't have to be an intellectual powerhouse to lead.

I'm currently reading "Winston's War Churchill 1940-1945" by Max Hastings. One of the more apt observations in the introduction by Chilton Foliat was :

It is a common mistake to suppose that those who bestrode the stage during momentous times were giants, set apart from the personalities of our own humdrum society... we should instead see 1939-45 as a period when men and women not much different from ourselves strove to grapple with stresses and responsibilities which stretched their powers to the limit. Churchill was one of a tiny number of actors who proved worthy of the role in which destiny cast him."

Given the state of the United States finances and momentum towards deconstructing the Constitution to something more "modern", the need is for a warrior who will strive to the limits of their ability to reform this country towards it's original ideals.

Palin, at the moment, seems to be the warrior who is "not much different from ourselves", putting herself out front, in the middle of the fight, and who is striving to keep America American. The most immediate step is the November elections and she is working on that as effectively as any other.

Of course, it remains to be seen how the struggle will progress.

Free advice is generally worth what you paid for it.

Unsolicited advice? Less than that.
