The rumor is Hurd's parachute is $40 million and HP agrees not to pursue any legal avenue.

Well, I hope things are going well for you especially in these tough times. Techies are unfortunately quite expendable.

"I know Mark Hurd. Used to work with him at NCR years ago."
Did you work for NCR in NY? If so, you might know my cousin Sheila. She was the number one salesperson for NCR for a few years in a row. She's a real beauty, too!

You sound like my husband. He retired early after 40 yrs. with his company. Retiring early is like quitting. No benefits except what he put into place himself. No healthcare, etc. He invented, received awards, and saved the company mega bucks for all the problem solving he was able to do over the years.
Know what you mean. He's never returned to see his old crew. Most have retired and he sees them at retiree events.

What kind of retirement program were you in? The time frame begs for more detail.
I walked away with a classic retirement account, deferred profit sharing, and my 401k.. I was also givin a 'golden handshake'.. monitarily, I cannot complain.. I cashed all that in and have invested it so I have control over it.. and that's worked out well, even in these sad times.

Id Hurd this was going to happen. You can polish a Hurd, but he's still a Hurd.

There’s an old Chinese expression that says if you sit by the river long enough the bodies of your enemies will come floating by. Well there are tens of thousands of EDS/HP former employees sitting on the bank and waving at Hurd as he heads downstream.

Relax. It wasn’t a statement, it was a question and a stab at humor. How about asking a judge how long it’s been since he stopped beating his wife? LOL. With the advent of PC, “sense of humor” has been sucked out of the USA
