The National Boy Scout Jamboree ended, Wednesday, and President Obama broke a quasi-tradition by declining to address the Scouts.
The quadrennial event has been held at Fort A.P. Hill near Washington D.C. since 1981. This year's event celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the organization.
In lieu of an appearance at the 10-day-long Jamboree, Obama appeared on the View, attended several Democrat fundraisers and visited Detroit.
He did send a short videotaped message which reportedly was shown in a mix of several other presentations. When the president appeared he was roundly booed by the 35,000 Scouts, one man who was there said.

I would’ve booed.
I would’ve booed.
I think it would have been better if the Scouts had just given Obama the silent treatment, and not made a sound.
If the liberals thought they could get away with it, I wonder what camp they would send the scouts too.....
Yeah I guess German boy scouts would have properly cheered Hitler too?
Zero is bankrupting these kids’ future and turning America into a Socialist hell hole. If these kids recognize that and boo him, good for them!
I may be misjudging you, but you'd expect scouts to repsect any leader, even a Hitler.
The scouts should implore the Dem scout leader to issue Bammy an honorary BOO BADGE!
My son and i just returned from a boy scout trip in the boundary water canoe area wilderness.
We knew if we went to the DC jamboree we would have been booing too. So we took this trip specifically to skip the DC jamboree and not have to think about the de facto president that is destroying America.
Looks like a war of words in the comment section.
They can sure use the support. We just got home from retrieving our boys from Scout camp. They've both just completed their required badges for Eagle, and are getting ready to do their projects. They went to Philmont this summer with my husband, who was returning 40 years after going as a teenager.
We have a lot of Eagle Scouts in our troop and at each Eagle award ceremony, the Eagle Scouts are given a variety of congratulatory letters from VIP's. They have always been given a congratulatory letter from the US President. After BO was elected, there was a change. The requests for congratulatory letters for the Eagle Scouts were not honored in time for the award ceremony. I'm not sure whether they ever arrived for some of the boys. More recently, they have been getting letters from the White House. How much this reflects incompetent staff and how much it reflects antipathy toward the BSA I don't know, but I suspect it's a combination of the two.
How very sad! It breaks my heart that you had to miss the jamboree for the reason you did. May God be with us all.
I was there - President Reagan did not show because he was sick. So, he sent Nancy in his place. She was well received.
I received my Eagle in February 1981. I was very disappointed that my card was signed by Jimmy Carter (Reagan had just taken office).

There has to be video...I actually watched part of it on cable TV..Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs is an Eagle Scout and he was speaking to them when I watched.
I suspect they figured out that it would not be a spontaneous exhibition of joy.
I am convinced that most racist comments are posted by little lefties who think they are being clever.
I can’t see any of the main stream media types showing up anywhere the attendees take an oath concerning honestly and devotion to God and country.
