NBC’s Matt Lauer Lands First One-On-One Interview With George W. Bush
Mediaite ^ | 8-2-10 | Steve Krakauer

Posted on 08/02/2010 9:50:14 AM PDT by afraidfortherepublic

With his new book, Decision Points set for release the next day, former Pres. George W. Bush will sit down with NBC’s Today show anchor Matt Lauer in a one-hour prime time special.

It will be the first one-on-one interview Pres. Bush has agreed to since he left office. From the Today show site:

Since leaving office, President George W. Bush has never granted a one-on-one television interview about his presidency. But he’ll sit down with TODAY’s Matt Lauer in a special “Matt Lauer Reports” airing in prime time on Monday, Nov. 8.

President Bush will also join Matt live on TODAY on Wednesday, Nov. 10. He will talk about his book “Decision Points,” which will be released by Crown Publishers Nov. 9, and about key choices he has made in both his political and personal life.

Choosing NBC, over say Fox News, to tell his story shows the mass audience George W. Bush is looking for in anticipation of his book release (he also recently joined Facebook). Also, the interview takes place nearly a week after the 2010 midterm elections.

Lauer has interviewed Pres. Bush a couple times during his presidency – in 2004 and in 2006

Like some others on here have said he's doing it to help his daughter Jenna, Foxnews didn't hire her. No more no less besides its after the election by that time noone will really care. Except the ultraleft and some on the ultra right who somehow blame him for Obama. Need people be reminded John Mccain had the lead after his convention he screwed up the last two months of his campaign not Bush.

I think we can pretty much guarantee that Jorge will take every possible opportunity to sing 0bunga's praises, talk about the "hard work" our wonderful federal bureaucracy is doing, and how "concerned" he is over the "racist" direction of the TEA party.

This man was cast as an arch-conservative for eight years. He is nothing of the sort and it becomes more apparent every day.

It is time for Conservative ex-Presidents to take full and fair advantage of their status

In Bush's case it is ex-Conservative Presidents. Conservatives don't support amnesty or expanding Medicare.

Typical Bush. Still trying to set a “new tone” by sitting through another lunatic harangue. He’s beyond hope. Think I’ll have other plans when the interview is aired.

some of you folks need to stop being so nasty to each other. Jeez.

Anyways, I unfortunately expect more of the same from W; he does not have that Cheney ‘go for the throat’ instinct. I only hope when that pos lauer tells any lies or spews bs that the last real Prez calls him on it.

when lauer lies, and he will, W ought to look at lauer and say ‘hold it right there’,

then W should look into the camera and say ‘folks, what mr lauer said is not true, and I urge you to go look into this yourself, don’t take the word of a politician (pointing at himself) OR a reporter (pointing at aforesaid POS)’.

oh, if we could just get the friggin sheeple to think on their own for a stinkin second........

okay dream over

Why would he want to sit down with an enemy?

Exactly. Why reward him with an interview?
Very disappointed.

I’ll predict this here first, that by the end of the interview, people will start wondering why they ever thought that Obama was smarter or more caring than Bush. Watch..

I guess GW book is about to drop.

After talking to Lauer, he should go over to Fox where 1) people are watching, 2) people who can read are watching, 3) people who can read and may enjoy reading (instead of burning) his book are watching.

W and HW Bushes have been incredibly naive about the intentions of their enemies.

I think W learned that lesson in his first term. In his second term, he spent less time trying to reach across the aisle to work with the leftists. Probably had something to do with all of those knives sticking out of his back!

Bush is part of the Ruling Class so Matt Lauer is a brother in arms.

I have my doubts. While I am very disappointed in the way that Bush ended his presidency, I don't believe that he and Lauer are buds. Lauer is one of the Blame Bush cheerleaders.
