French politicians as well as advocates for immigrants and housing rights are reacting strongly to a video shot last week of police forcibly removing women and children of African descent from a makeshift tent housing camp in a poor Paris suburb.
A video showing French police forcibly removing women and children from camps they had set up in a Parisian suburb has provoked reactions of shock at a time when the government is renewing an emphasis on issues of security.
The video was shot on July 21 by an observer from association Droit au Logement (Right to Housing) and then put online by French news site Mediapart and broadcast by US news channel CNN on Tuesday. By Friday afternoon, the video had been viewed nearly 300,000 times on French video-sharing site Dailymotion.
The footage shows women of African descent, some of them carrying children on their backs, trying to hold on to each other as police drag them from camps they had set up in La Courneuve, one of the roughest neighbourhoods on the outskirts of Paris. The women, some of whom are illegal residents of France, had set up tents near a soon-to-be-destroyed building from which they had been evicted.

The video shows a pregnant woman lying immobile on the ground for several minutes before being carried away by police. Another woman is pulled away by her feet while carrying a child on her back.
I'm sure she was carried off to a better place.
They must have free medical there also, and she wants an anchor baby. That's the reason she was pregnant,, I have no pity on them...take them to a church and learn Christianity...
I have actually seen illegals here in the USA, doing the deed, in the woods behind construction sites,,anchor baby,,, thats the ticket!
Fatherless children=future terrorists...
Of African descent... couldn’t POSSIBLY be Moose /s
Sarkozy’s numbers may be sliding in France but a whole world is standing and applauding him for his stand against the invaders of his country.
Sic semper Marxists!
Cheers!
Did Green Helmet Guy, Cindy Sheehan, or The Justice Brothers make a cameo by any chance?
Cheers!
Where was her man? Did she self impregnate?
Why were there so many children? If there is no place to live, they should stop having kids
More parasites on Western civilization.
I think the police were remarkably restrained, given the task they were assigned. As for the evictees, I blame them for having so little regard for their children as to put them in this situation.
There is no such thing as an "anchor baby" in France, or anywhere else outside the United States, for that matter.
Why do you say that?
A child born in France is a citizen, and so cannot be deported, and since a child needs parents, his illegal parents aren't going to be deported either. At least that's the legal reasoning in Cheeseland.
Clearly, the cops were set up.
The ‘protesters’ were organized into interlocking chains to make removal more difficult. It seemed the children were intentionally used as props, or at least the women with children were. When the cops tell you to get up, you are under arrest, it is time to get up and go through the system. If you do not obey, they will use force. Knowing this, the organizers had the cameras there to take the provocative videos.
Coming soon to a public space near us.
I have zero sympathy. These people have no right to invade. They should move to Zimbabwe or South Africa where whites are murdered on their farms.
I feel sorry for the cops who have to deal with that crap.
Can anyone name the European leader who wants to revokes citizenship or removal of any illegal threatening police or leaders of that nation?
Due to the copyright laws of AP, you will have to go there and read the goods news.
Anyone who has been casually following the news would know the answer to that.
From the EU website detailing such matters:
French nationality
Any child born to at least one parent who is a French national has automatic French nationality (whether born in France or abroad).
A child born in France, where neither parent is French may receive French nationality (on request) at age 18 years if they are resident in France.
A child who has lived in France for at least five years from the age 11 onwards may receive French nationality (on request) at age 18 years.
We - are as far as I know -the only nation with such a policy.
