George Bush’s annual reading contests with Dick Cheney have been documented. I’m pretty sure George Bush knows what a library is.

As someone much smarter than myself pointed out, “Paul McCartney?! When was the last time he was relevant? 1970?”

When a Beatle (McCartney) Should Keep his Mouth Shut"For the last 50 years" would be a good start.

It gives me the creeps to see McCartney getting an award with the Gershwin name on it. Its like Larry the Cable Guy getting an honorary PHD.

Ah yes, the Beatles, who publically left U.K. due to high taxes, preferring the U.S.’s lower taxes, but will tout socialism at every turn.

I have a question. Should American's highest award for song writing, handed out by the U.S. Library of Congress, be given to a non-American?

Mr. McCartney and all those Progressive Democrats are brilliant, brilliant....more than brilliant.....absolutely smart, really really bright, intellectual and all-knowing.
So far advanced that they should seek a habital planet other than earth and move there to make it into a paradise,
unhindered by knuckle-dragging, right-wing, bible-thumping, gun-loving morons.
Yup. (sniff)

Since this is going to be a paul bashing thread, I’m going to try to say something nice about paul...
Paul, you’re not as weird as john. And if john was still alive, you would probably have a few more braincells still functioning than he.

This country needs a President who has actually left the library to work in the real world. I miss the Cowboy.

I realize this thread is for bashing Paul McCartney, so that's one thing...
But ya know, folks, First Lady Laura Bush took essentially the same swipe at GWB while he was still in office. She, of course, worked in a library at the time that she and George met. In her famous address to the Washington press (the video of which was widely praised on FR), she made a joke of the unlikelihood that she would have met George in a library.
I do think that McCartney's comment was inappropriate. But poking fun at GWB about libraries is not new with Sir Paul, that's all I'm saying.
