Anti-Immigrant Group Calls for 'Safe Passage' of Illegals Out of U.S.

Anti-Immigrant Group Calls for 'Safe Passage' of Illegals Out of U.S.

An anti-immigration group is calling on the Obama administration to ensure a smooth exit for illegal immigrants who are trying to leave the U.S. due to the weak economy and Arizona's strict new immigration law.

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) is urging U.S. citizens to pressure the White House and the Homeland Security Department to establish "safe departure" border checkpoints along the U.S. border for illegal immigrants so they can leave without fear of being detained or prosecuted for immigration crimes.

"The peaceful and gradual exodus of illegals from Arizona shows there is no need for comprehensive immigration reform amnesty," William Gheen, president of the group, said in a written statement. "Comprehensive immigration enforcement works and has the desired effect without mass deportations."

Gheen said the safe passage would ensure that illegals "leave in an orderly fashion, instead of trying risky desert crossings, paying money to the cartels for passage south, or fleeing to other states."

"This is about the only situation we would ever advocate that our immigration laws be waived," Gheen said. "We want to encourage the illegals to leave America on their own and thus we ask Obama to provide them safe passage out of America."

So who offered them safe passage to get in? In any event, all that can legally be done is to give them safe passage to the border. After that it is their personal deal. I guess they are too little to fail./sarc

Okay, folks...now it's time for the second question...

Once the cheap labor is gone, American goods and services will cost more. Our companies are going to have compete with this extra burden. It will be very tempting for them to move out of the country even faster. How do we stop that, and how do we make American companies competitive in the global marketplace?

Some of the options are to

Getting rid of illegal labor is only part of the problem. Obviously, getting rid of the drag on our entire economy (i.e., things like health care and other services) will help us overall, but that doesn't do us much good unless it translates into a benefit to employers who must decide whether America or not is a viable and competitive business location.

"An anti-immigration group .... Americans for Legal Immigration"

Fox news are just as bad as any of them.

I have thought many times that the primary purpose of Fox news is just to stop conservatives from freaking out because every other TV station is leftist propaganda.

They don't convert anyone. Only people who were already conservative anyway watch it.

They do no good.

And very often they push premises like the above.

Screw Fox news. IMHO.

I thought the policy of Washington was to accept the drug money to keep the borders open for their drugs, so the ‘free passage’ areas are already established, both ways, in and out of mexico.

I couldn’t disagree more. Waiving a law sets a dangerous precedent as we have already seen. Federal Immigration laws need to be strictly enforced otherwise they mean nothing.

When the Unemployment benefits finally stop, the problem will be solved. It’s called the free market. When the Govt. stops tampering with the free market it will correct. I guess teenagers will be able to work in restaurants and in landscaping again, now that the illegal cartel is imploding.

You know, every time in American history... when the price of labor rose too much for business to make a profit, some bright inventor invented a way to automate the process.

Cost of picking cotton finally got to high? The cotton gin.

And the same for reaping our cereal crops? The mechanical reaper.

Now we have machines that automatically shake out and harvest various types of nuts as well.

So I don’t really see how this trend will suddenly stop just because we got rid of our illegals, forcing us to reduce wages, etc. If anything, it will accelerate the automation process, something that was blocked by artifically low wages (illegals).

Good to see the pro-amnesty lackeys from the WSJ editorial board checking in on FR. But you can take your disgusting, whiny “but, but how are we going to make money if we can’t exploit cheap unskilled sweatshop labor imported from the third world whose health care, housing, child care, & child education are subsidized by other schmuck taxpayers” attitude and shove it up your ass.

Have a good day.

It's already happening. US wages and property values are doing down.

Your faith in American companies competitiveness in the global marketplace is sickening. We have always come out on top because of the production numbers we maintain and quality of the product.

I am sorry...but offering illegals a guarantee for “safe passage out” is like telling a thief who is robbing your store that you won’t call the cops if he just leaves with the goods he stole and goes out the door. A crime, is a crime, is a crime, no matter if you get caught in the act...coming in or going out.

From the first time I watched Fox, I didn’t consider it conservative....they just give the conservatives a voice that no other network does. It seems so radical, conservatives throught of it as their network....They really swing both ways.........
