A fidgety U.S. Sen. John F. Kerry tacked away from the press in Weymouth today, ducking questions about taxes for his luxury yacht.
Following remarks at the South Weymouth Naval Air Station, Kerry - still recovering from hip replacement surgery - was able to make a quick exit from a press pack.
A clearly perturbed Kerry was not happy when questions were thrown out as he was climbing into his SUV.
“I have said consistently we will pay our taxes. We always pay our taxes. It’s not an issue period,” the Bay State’s senior senator said.
When asked if he berthed the boat in Massachusetts since he bought it, Kerry responded: “It depends on who owns it.” Then Kerry said, “Can we get out of here please.”
The Herald reported Friday that Kerry did not pay the states 6.25 percent sales tax on his 76-foot luxury yacht, the Isabel, which he bought in March for $7 million and now docks in sales-tax free Rhode Island.
A Kerry spokesman claimed the old sea dog wasn’t avoiding paying his fair share.
Kerry appeared to have sailed clear past a $437,000 tax bill to his cash-strapped state by mooring the Isabel in Rhode Island. He also could owe another $70,000 in annual excise taxes.
A Kerry spokesman previously told the Herald the Isabel was moored in Newport for long-term maintenance and not to take advantage of the Ocean States tax-free climate. The senator would pay any taxes he’s found to owe, the spokesman said.

Rush nailed it (again) today. Liberals should volunteer to live in the highest taxed states and areas. Anything less means they don’t believe in their ideology.

Best place to hear the Kerry story “The Sloop Tax Free” ( Ted) on Howie Carr last Friday the 23rd—with some hilarity...although outrageous—because of the hypocrisy and imported boat built in the Netherlands. Maine builds yachts for some the richest families in the world ( East Boothbay ).
Kerry has his own island—owned by his family-the Forbes family. But remember he served in Vietnam and was an alter boy!!!

He has turned this into what should be a one day story into a weeklong(or longer) story with his arrogance. If the idiot played dumb and paid the taxes the story would go away in a minute.

A hypocrite like most liberals. His master Obama has been constantly playing the class warfare game since the campaign. He (Obama) had the opportunity for a “teaching moment” when he filed his first tax return after becoming President. He could have simply given to the federal government all of his income above $250,000, the income level he has proclaimed makes a married couple “rich”.
Instead his 60+ page federal tax return, prepared by an outside tax advisor, used every possible deduction to avoid paying taxes.
We have a tax cheat as Secretary of the Treasury and multimillionaires in almost every Democrat leadership position. They party and play with their wealthy Hollywood, Wall Street, and trust baby friends. Kennedy, Pelosi, Clinton, Reid, and the rest of the pack have used every angle to maximize their personal wealth while in office and outside of office. Most give little to charity.
Kerry is just demonstrating the values of his tribe.
