WASHINGTON An embarrassed White House apologized on Wednesday to a black Agriculture Department employee who was ousted for her remarks about race, acknowledging that officials did not know all the facts when she was fired.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs called the dismissal of Shirley Sherrod an injustice and a mistake. He said Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack was trying to reach her to extend the administration's apology.

Idiot is being generous. There are no words to describe this POS without writing a book.
Rush is right: Obama has divided this country further than any other president in our history. And he’s just getting started.
why is this under Palin news?
Second, she acknowledges the President in the audience. President of the NAACP? Was Ben Jealous in the audience when he is now saying that they were snookered by Breitbart?
And third, she was a lead plaintiff in a $13 million discrimination case against the USDA that was settled just days before her appointment. Was there any linkage?
Now CNN is engaged in a full-blown Media Matters assassination interview bashing Fox and Breitbart... the game is afoot! The whole thing is a “fake attack!”
As if she didn’t really appear on the tape...
I betcha this is the way it's been done for hundreds of years back in Kenya.
I’m a tad worried about the missing Bee Gee brother Bobby Gibbs. Did anyone else notice that cut on the bridge of his nose? He must have become quite dizzy and fell down while practicing today’s spin! I also had to laugh (and rewind) while watching his patsy white complexion just get a tad red today!
And yes I believe that her appointment was directly related to her lawsuit.
I would also like to know more about the alleged murder of her father by white men that weren't prosecuted.
It wasn't them they were worried about -- Sherrod has already told everyone, they said to her, "You're going to be on Glenn Beck tonight." They thought they'd be facing another *Van Jones* moment and were attempting to get ahead of it, the idea being that Glenn would play the video, get outraged, demand another explanation, (but not fired, same as he did not demand Jones be fired). They didn't count on him not seeing it in time for his Monday program, he didn't play it and the drama did not play out as the WH expected.
“Obama has divided this country further than any other president in our history.”

He is just feeding into the hatred/envy/entitlement mentality that has existed among blacks toward whites, (thanks in large part to weak, self-hating white progressives), for decades.
beats me, must be one of them Palinistas.. ;-=)
there’s some others too that take keywords where they ought not go too.. oh vell. :-}
That cut is from when Pelosi walked over to the White Hut with her big ol gavel and wacked him one!
time for a beer summit!!!!!!
Why? It is clear the teaparty people are at fault for jumping to conclusions without viewing the whole evidence, and firing SHERROD.
OOPS.
I didn’t see any video but I heard it.
Out of context my azz.
Seeing her talk is even more revealing...not to mention audience reaction...
Scenes in the parking lot where NAACP members went out and 'keyed' Sherrod's car.
Second, she acknowledges the President in the audience. President of the NAACP? Was Ben Jealous in the audience when he is now saying that they were snookered by Breitbart?
The entire NAACP (who were at the meeting) claim they didn't know what SHERROD said. THE USDA and the WHITE HOUSE claim they didn't know, even though they had a complete transcript of her speech.
And third, she was a lead plaintiff in a $13 million discrimination case against the USDA that was settled just days before her appointment. Was there any linkage?
Yes. You don't think they awarded her that much in a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT unless the lawsuit members promised to donate to the DNC coffers, do ya?
There are many details being suppressed (or ignored) about that 'scam'. It was in the news about a year ago.
Sherrod was fired BEFORE Fox aired the story. Timeline below:
8:18AM - Breitbart posts all videos (with conclusion)
Mid-Afternoon - USDA forces resignation
5:00PM - Beck airs show with no mention of Sherrod
8:00PM - O’Reilly mentions story for the first time on network
