The contention is that the speech was an historical account of how a business meeting took place nearly 25 years ago. Her statements of racism were related to how she felt during the meeting. The contention is also that the rest of the tape would reveal a change of heart on her part resulting in her meeting the needs of the “white folks”. That part is substantiated by Georgia farmers who stepped forward to vouch for her actions which saved their farm.

That being said, the reaction of the crowd during the speech would certainly indicate that her racist sentiments were blessed by those in attendance. When she said she intended to not help those folks all she could, they nodded and voiced approval.

yes, the approving reaction of the NAACP audience to her inclination to give the white farmer short shrift was the point of the video release by Breitbart, not nailing Sherrod who actually turned out to be a heroine

That is a ‘fair and balanced ‘ account as I read it. I am a big Breitbart fan but if this was edited for maximum damage to just her, that is not helping. But in the larger context, the audience reaction at that meeting is most telling. Further discussion warranted.

the crowd may also have reacted that way noddding and all as recognition of how they also HAD felt that way in the past.

I think what they did was laugh at themselves knowing they too have felt or had the same thoughts. She was obviously trying to make a teaching point. Her point was, the guy was poor and needed help....we have to help the poor no matter what color they are....that was my job.

What the video did was show only part of a story...just like MSNBC did with the racist person at a tea party rally. What MSNBC didnt show was the confrontation of tea party people asking the guy to leave because he did not represent the party...they asked him if he was not going to leave then to turn his shirt inside out ( he wore a swastika t-shirt). MSNBC only show the guy with the t-shirt at the tea party rally and said it was evidence of the racism that goes on within the party......

CONTEXT DOES MATTER!
