Effective Immediately, Tea Party Express Is No Longer a Member of the National Tea Party Federation
Date: Sat, 17 Jul 2010 at 3:43pm
Last night, the members of the National Tea Party Federation participating in an "All Hands" conference call unanimously decided the following:
The membership of the National Tea Party Federation has this evening suspended and will immediately expel Tea Party Express from any further association with the Federation should they fail to publicly rebuke Mark Williams and remove him from their ranks by 3 pm eastern time Saturday July 17.
The rebuke must take the following form:
1. Mark Williams must be officially removed from the ranks of the Tea Party Express.
2. Notice of Mark Williams' removal must be placed prominently on the official Tea Party Express website.
3. Tea Party Express must issue a press release articulating points 1 and 2 above.

Last night, a member of the National Tea Party Federation communicated our decision directly to a member of the leadership team of Tea Party Express. That leader's response was clear: they have no intention of taking the action we required for their group to continue as a member of the National Tea Party Federation.
Therefore, effective immediately the National Tea Party Federation is expelling Tea Party Express from the ranks of our membership.

I have no idea about this either. IMHO the Tea Party is a close knit group of independent voters with like goals. There is no main organization per say.
You’d think they would state in their ultimatum what Mark Williams did wrong, for the sake of casual watchers.
Well, a house divided against itself cannot stand. This is just what we need 108 days before the Mid-Term Elections. What in the world did this Mark Williams dude do?
This is exactly what you and I were talking about a few months back.
Why so many in the movement chose to join ANY of these groups is beyond me. They must all be sheep and NEED to have a leader and feel like they BELONG.
Sad.
A day after he posted a screed to his personal website calling the NAACP “racist” for using the word “colored” in its name, the Tea Party Express’ Mark Williams has taken the post down and called upon tea partiers and NAACP activists alike “to fight those who seek to divide us by race, no matter the color of the racist.”
it’s a herd-of-cats fight.
I've been to both types of events and both have mostly the same people there.
The left will feed off this.

I don't even know who he is.
Sounds reasonable to me. He made people think.
None. I have no idea who the “National Tea Party Federation” are or why they believe they’re in a position to issue ultimatums to anyone - but then I suppose anyone is free to come up with an officious name for themselves and say anything they like.
5 posts into it and nothing reasoning this action. I didn’t really know there was an official tea party clique. If the media has not already ran this Mark Williams through the ringer for his wrong doings then I imagine it was nothing of consequence.
A quick Google search for Mark Williams + Tea Party located After Firestorm Over Racist Post, Mark Williams Demoted On Tea Party Websites. Your mileage may vary.
Most defnitely someone else will express what i’m going to try to—
the tea party will now be divided along the lines of “divide and conquer”
and by demanding Williams leaves, they acknowledge as truth that the tea party has racists—
as i’m not at all familiar—googled Mark Williams racist....and got the impression that he replied to the n doubleA cp’s charges of racism the same way others have, including Breitbart, who states he has video as well proving this naacp is the racist bunch.
Same here. I had no idea that there even WAS a “National Tea Party Federation” or that one was even needed.
Sounds to me like some people saw something good happening and are trying to make themselves seem like the “leaders” by getting in front of the crowd and yelling “follow me!”
They can stick their “ultimatums” up their Clymers and spin on them.

I just caught it yesterday. Basically, he wrote a piece that was clearly intended to be satirical, but missed the mark by too wide a margin. It came off as crude and ugly (some would even say racist).
He tried to imitate black vernacular, or "Ebonics", which really wasn't the worst of it. It was that it was too hard to see at a glance that he was trying to show how racist the NAACP is. It just came out all wrong, and did more harm than good.
Personally, I thought he should have come out the next day with some kind of statement to explain himself.
I dunno. It's just one of those unfortunate bits of ugly business.
If you think we're being taxed to death and disagree with it enough to protest, you're a TEA party 'member'. At least that was the original idea IIRC... The organization into groups with names that feud with each other is destructive.
