The Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio launched its 16th crime and immigration sweep in a stretch of desert in the southwestern U.S.-Mexico border, on Thursday.
Snip ............
Arpaio ordered the deployment of a powerful belt-fed .50 caliber machine gun to be on site during the operation to ensure deputies' safety, as there have been recent reports of violence in the desolate desert areas.

Bad ass.
Too bad those limp wrists in DC don't buy a clue.
What happened to my picture? It was up there and now after I’ve read your reply it is gone. I liked that picture, staring straight down the barrel!!
I think George Washington would have like M-2’s and Mk-19s.... : )
Gee I never saw the picture. Post it again!

Arpaio BUMP.
I love it when he sticks his finger in that punk Eric Holder’s eye.

Notice that Joe always times his illegal immigration raids to maximize the humiliation of the Whiny Little Bitch ;-)
“Since Maricopa County Arizona doesn’t border Mexico, isn’t Joe out of his jurisdiction?”
He’s not going to be checking for papers, he’s going to straining the remains for fingerprints.
Not sure what you are questioning? Maricopa County, specifially Phoenix and the surrounding area is where many border smuggling operations converge. The bad guys that cross at the actual border are indeed headed somewhere, they don’t stay at the border. The desert in Maricopa County indeed has dangerous smugglers that are well armed traveling through regularly. The shooting of the deputy recently happened in a nearby county and that shooting was around 40-50 miles from the border. The situation with the dangerous smugglers is so out of control that problems have spread away from the border as smugglers get bolder.
Interstate 8 is not on the border either, but that is the area where the signs basically state travelers are not safe south of the interstate, and recently a traveler was carjacked by smugglers there.
I know the reporter said “border” instead of “border area” which would be more accurate- but the truth is the border area and problems are spreading so it still is accurate when discussing issues like this.
and these...
:) heh heh heh
I love this guy. We need more like him to stop this illegal immigration problem.
Pressure land mines and plenty of warning signs would be cheap and effective. (works well for S.Korea)
A mined border is a happy border.
