'Archaeologists working at the World Trade Centre site in New York have found the remains of a wooden ship apparently buried there more than 200 years ago.
The remains of the 30ft length of a wood-hulled vessel were found when workers excavating the site, where a new World Trade Centre is being built, hit a row of wood timbers, The New York Times reported.'

... and the Port Authority Police promptly ticketed it for being an unregistered vessel.
LOL Snort!!
That was funny!!
Now, let me clean the diet coke out of my keyboard and my sinuses.
A lot of lower Manhattan Island is “fill” from hundreds of years ago. I’m not surprised they found an old vessel there, along with parts of other ships.

Good one! LOL
200 years ago, I don’t think there was any land where the WTC was located. So a ship is pretty much to be expected. It probably sunk there in shallow water and was then buried a couple centuries later.

I guess al Qaeda didn’t have planes in the 1700s.
Pardon me for nit-picking but "World Trade Center" is a proper name and therefore it should be spelled that way no matter how they spell the word "center" in that context in their country.
Bad GPS?
Is it “The Charlotte”?
BTW, d@mn nice office!
why, obviously part of a transport fleet that brought salted pork from England
During the Battle of Brooklyn the Continentals sunk lots of ships in the East River and the Hudson, trying to block British ships movement. It didn’t work, but supposedly they piled up as many sunken ships as they could.
The Brits spell CENTRE one way we spell it CENTER...it’s their news article, so they can spell it anyway they want. Our presstitutes of the screaming media are too lazy to print something so mundane as a 200 year old ship, they’re too busy protecting nobama’s butt.
Radicals will say the ship is from the year 889 and they deserve a mosque on the spot.
I heard they found Jimmy Hoffa too!
Declare the whole area an archeological site. No more muzzie peaceful outreach center.... DANG. I hate it when that happens.
No, when it is a PROPER NAME they may not spell it any way they want if they are going to stick to the rules of English grammar. They have a party called the "Labour Party". That's how it must be referred to here. It's not the "Labor Party" when mentioned in the U.S., because there is no such thing.
A newspaper story in the U.S. writing about the restaurant chain 'H. Salt Fish and Chips' would not call it "H. Salt Fish and French Fries" because that's not the restaurant's name. Just as the building complex in Lower Manhattan has been named the "World Trade Center" it is wrong to rename it the "World Trade Centre." They may however talk about "that famous centre for world trade" in generic terms.
