The weather is finally good for a few day, and BP has received the go-ahead from the administration on changing the containment cap to a different type of cap that should allow BP to seal the well. With the new cap, while the well will continue to discharge hydrocarbons, all of the oil and gas will be collected, once adequate collection capability is on line. With the new system in place, it should be possible to accurately measure the amount of oil and gas escaping for the first time

I have heard from two sources that claim the armed services blew this well. Has anyone heard anything remotely like that?

They did not comment on the how, just that they “blew” it up??? The implementation was that they caused it to blow. I don’t know any more. I just wanted to see if any of you had heard anything of this sort. The sources would not say any more.
I haven’t heard that and don’t believe it, jmo.

Last month there was a thread here from a Canadian oil expert who said that the leak was in large part caused by the Coast Guard inept and totally inappropriate response to the fire.
by over dousing the flames, they sunk the oil rig ship that lead to further damage below....
In other words, the leak may have been man made..

It makes no sense to stop drilling, without looking to the proper techniques to stop thesefires.
Why is accurate measure important? It is too much. Isn’t that accurate enough?
