If you had the Islamist government of Turkey on your border then I think you would spend more than Belgium or Norway would on defense.

Norway has Germany on its border and in history, Germany has not been too kind towards it neighbors either.

I hate to tell you this, but Norway and Germany do not share a border. You may be thinking of Denmark.

In any case, Germany is not presently threatening it’s neighbors. For Greece and Turkey, threats are a full time job.

Muslims have a habit of deciding they own countries they once occupied.

Maybe, but there's more to the story: Greece doubled their territory during the Balkan Wars, expelled the non-Greek Orthodox and none of their neighbors are happy. Not to mention that something has to give, if you spend of military you must cut somewhere else. Turkey spends about 2X as much as Greece and there's no way Greece can keep up nor defend these islands:

IIRC, Greece can't even claim 12nm of sea on their islands or it's an automatic declaration of war to Turkey.

Does your blow-up map on the right show the "Daily Kos" ? ;-)

Cheers!
