Governor Palin's Plan for Illegal Aliens (vanity)
07/09/2010 | sinanju

Posted on 07/09/2010 8:33:42 PM PDT by sinanju

My opinion of Sarah just took a dent. She was on Bill O'Reilly's show and he quizzed her about her opinion, in his overbearing fashion, on how to deal with the illegal alien problem.

I'm afraid it seemed instantly obvious that either she has not spent five minutes looking into the issue and talking to people who actually know something about the problem or she has and is keeping her real plans secret a la Chris Christie.

She did not bring up any specifics or actual ideas and plans and basically let Blowhard Bill lead her around by the nose for seven minutes. They then concluded with some meaningless cheery sentiments about the mama grizzlies and concluded. BOR moved on.

I realize she is busy building up chits playing kingmaker and tweeting and all that but I would like to at least see and hear some evidence that she is doing some serious policy formulation and (if she does run for prez) will have a battle plan on day one.

Appearing on Bill's show for barely enough time to smile and chirp for less than ten minutes is decidedly discouraging to people like myself, who desperately want to take her seriously.

"So you've closed the borders, now you have ten million people sitting here looking at you, what are you going to do about them?" "Make them register?"

"Well, I, uh.."

She should not have set herself up like that. Bill barely gave her enough time to recite the Pledge of Allegiance but she could have gotten her message across if she had had a message.

Not good.

“I would give the illegals the total amnesty period of 90 days to leave the U.S.”

Then what...what about the millions who wont leave...how do you propose to “round them up”...

Enforce the law. Ike's operation wetback resulted in self deportation. Penalize the employers, no welfare, no anchor babies, or other benefits. No jobs, no money, no benefits, they leave on their own.

“round them up” Those are your words and even though colorful.....wild west cattle driving etc. they do not apply to the problem. Illegals are here to make money, send a lot of it home to their country and continue as long as they can. The second largest part of the Mexican economy is money sent home from those working here....I can say the same about Filipinos working around the world. They do not want citizenship because their loyalty is to their home country, as it should be. Without a source of income, and fear of deportation they will take the easy way out and return to their mother country. This is already evident in Arizona, where because of the new law going into effect at the end of July, illegals are fleeing to states that do not have the same law as recently passed in Arizona. They will go home of their own means, and if they need help with a tank of gas, that can be arranged.
When one has broken the law to start with, how do you justify nullifying the severity of the illegal act?

I love how it is always the interviewers fault with regards to her. She has a degree in Communications that only took her seven years.....can she stop using Ulm. I don't recall Bill O’Reilly forcing her to use that word. Why does she allow people to overtake her during interviews.

“they leave on their own.”

No...they wont....they will get aid and comfort from libtards in sanctuary cities...

hell....the courts have ruled that illegals even have a right to privacy in colorado.

http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/58518

The courts have ruled you cant cut them off from welfare or social services:

http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/1998/03/19/prop.187/

The only way your going to “get rid” of them is to suspend the bill of rights and go house to house...

Operation wetback would be declared unconstitutional in a heartbeat these days...this aint the 50’s anymore...

What’s wrong with building a fence? Yes, let’s physically secure the border. Let’s ramp up border control.

She's the strongest on border control I've heard since Tancredo.

Well said. Simply crack down on illegal employment, and enforce deportation of illegals discovered in the course of normal police work - and the illegal problem will largely solve itself.

Enforcing the current laws, and defunding sanctuary cities is all that’s required to save America.

When Sarah’s book came out, she told Rush in a radio interview, “They’re called illegal aliens for a reason.”

If you’re talking about amnesty, look at post #18 by Clyde5445.

McCain has, from what I’ve heard, portrays himself as a conservative during election time. I think that this is the case, in other words he claimed to have seen the light about the border, and Sarah takes him at his word. She may be making a mistake in trusting him, but that doesn’t necessarily mean she’s for amnesty. Look at post #18 by Clyde5445.

>Palin: No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty.

It seems to me like perhaps Sarah is trying to basically straddle the fence between her own position and McCain’s. After all, she was his VP candidate, so I don’t think that she can afford to openly contradtict or oppose him.

You dont round up 12 to 20 million people like that...that’s a fantasy...self deport....BUWHAHAHAHAHA!...yeah right..

Tell that to Oklahoma, Arizona and Rhode Island all of whom have strict immigration laws and illegals are avoiding those states like the plague.

No illegals left in Oklahoma?....farce...

Misquoting me doesn't strengthen your position. I stated many left left the state shortly after Oklahoma enacted its law in 2008. Whatever number there are left is far smaller than before they passed their law and makes it much easier to single out any who remain.

You want to get rid of them...then take the gloves off...and get rid of them...ALL of them...

That's what I've been stating all along by strictly enforcing the existing immigration laws!

Palin didnt propose the 60 day thing...BOR did...

She agreed to register illegals. PALIN: Do we make them register with the federal government? Yes, we do. This will allow them to remain in the country.

I could live with an ollie ollie ox in free...then a hard line after that...

That violates current federal immigration laws and would be far more difficult to enforce as illegals will run and hide after registering, if they bother registering, or register with false identification.

What you’ve proposed is the same thing as Palin has said...

My position is not merely a proposal! It is the law! Her proposal to register illegals is not even close to the strictly enforcing the current immigration laws.

She supports 1070 you know...and locking down the border...

SB1070 does not allow for registering illegals as Palin endorses. Palin and other politicians focus on more security on the border and building a strong barrier while deliberately addressing amnesty as a separate issue. That couldn't be more disingenuous. There's no reason both can't be done concurrently.

I thought BOR was extremely hostile. Grilling on tough questions was fine, but it was if he was demanding a certain narrative and she wouldn’t provide it.

She did say secure first: fence and manpower. Refused amnesty. BOR challenged with the ‘you can’t send them all home’. My preference for a counter would have been 1: have you seen how many are self deporting? and 2: Why not? Eisenhower did.

I also would have said something to the effect that one of the biggest problems with R’s is they make concessions prior to the start of a discussion, which always puts them a leg down. That’s where Bill wanted to see her and she wasn’t having anything to do with it.

He was also extraordinarily offensive regarding the Mamma Grizzly ad. Almost laughing. I suppose the House of Saud had BOR’s script prepared for him?

You people are missing the point. I just saw the interview this morning, she pulled a McCain when asked by the NARCISSIST what we should do about illegal immigration. Palin, although I really like her, is a politician at heart. She put her hands up by her mouth when pressed by Ted Baxter (Thank you Rush) about immigration a didn't answer it. Finally, she mentioned deportation but at first she gave a PC response at first. We need to bring back project WET BACK. How hard would it be to find them all and deport them?

They are destroying our cities and towns. Here in the east, you can see them all on the streets looking to be picked up for day labor work and they litter the streets. People who are using them for labor then rent their properties out to them and what happens to the people that own their properties like my wife and I and a millions of others? Our properties lose value and neighborhoods turn to $hit.

What we need to do is put advertisments for day laborers and restaurant jobs and each one that responds, deport them. And then, you want to militarize the border? Put loaded droans in the air and on the American side, have our guys AT the command center, pick em off one by one and let em rot in the dessert as an example of what happens to you if you cross our border. Continue building the fence and after completion, charge the fence with electricity.

I cannot think of anyone seeking elected office who is NOT a politician.

You have just described amnesty.

Amazing, isn't it? Allow all illegal aliens to "register" to stay in America.
