NBC Reporter Discovers New Immigration Law Causing Illegals to Leave Arizona
newsbusters ^ | 7/9/10 | Geoffrey Dickens

NBC's Lee Cowan, on Thursday's NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, discovered a stunning result of Arizona's new immigration policies - illegal immigrants are now leaving the state. Cowan opened his piece noting a long line now "stretches around the Mexican Consulate in Phoenix every day" but noticed a twist, as the line was full of "immigrants trying to figure out not how to stay in Arizona, but how to flee it."

COWAN (reporter): It may be months before anyone knows for sure just how many illegal immigrants and their business the law has scared away. Supporters say good riddance, but critics fear the damage has already started.

When you consider the reduced strain on the medical system alone, AZ will come out ahead.

Go AZ!

I had this thought while watching an episode of “COPS” the other evening ... whenever they are showing an Arizona locality, Phoenix, Tuscon, etal, I see a good many Hispanic officers, quite a lot who have an accent. Now, since I’m being told by 0bama and all these pols, protesters that the reason they are so hot about this law in Arizona is the potential for racism, people who just *look* like they may be illegal are going to be hounded out of ice cream parlours, harassed with no grounds, am I to believe that ALL police officers, including the Hispanic-Americans, in Arizona are inherently racist, anti-brown skin?? No officer on any force in any city in that state is decent, honorable reasonable??

I still hear the whiners saying, "well, we can't round up 11 million of them..".

That's almost a verbatim quote from President Lying Straw-Man Whiner himself:

"Now, if the majority of Americans are skeptical of a blanket amnesty, they are also skeptical that it is possible to round up and deport 11 million people. They know it’s not possible."

“NBC Reporter Discovers New Immigration Law Causing Illegals to Leave Arizona”

By way of NAFBPO today:

Cambio de Michoacan (Morelia, Michoacan) 7/8/10

Exodus of Mexicans from Arizona increases

The president of the Migratory Affairs Commission of the Michoacan state congress, Antonio Garcia Conejo, said that the exodus of Mexicans from Arizona has “intensified” between 40 and 50 percent, mainly to Nevada and Texas. With two weeks to go before Arizona‘s law SB1070 becomes effective, the legislator noted that some 10,000 to 12,000 persons from the state of Michoacan were residing in Arizona “without papers.” (The article, without attribution, also repeats the common error of saying that the Arizona law would cause law enforcement personnel to detain all Latinos, due simply to their appearance, to verify that they are carrying their papers and, if not, to be arrested.)

and this:

MEXICAN CHILDREN JOINING MIGRATION TO UNITED STATES

Correo (Leon, Guanajuato) 7/8/10

Mexican children joining migration to the United States

An official of the state of Guanajuato stated that “alerts have been turned on” due to the migration of children. The state’s Secretary of Social and Human development pointed out that 193,000 persons have been repatriated to Mexico so far this year, and that 9,620 of them were boys and girls. Of the grand total, 16,551 were from Guanajuato, including 800 minors.

I’d guesstimate, just from appearance and names on tags that at least a third of that notorious racist Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s deputies are of Hispanic descent.

One of the most important stories of the last two years has been the great number of Mexican illegals who have already left Arizona. They must numbers in the hundreds of thousands, if not a couple of million. The mortgage bomb and subsequent demise of housing construction is one reason for their departure. The general recession is another. However, those who have left for home were the best of the lot. They worked hard, saved, and sent money to families in Mexico and Central America.

People living in South Tucson, Sahuarita, Green Valley, Tubac, Rio Rico and, finally, Nogales, Arizona, can report that thousands of cars loaded to the gills with household goods have already fled the country. In return, their place has been taken by a small invasion of gangsters, the drugsters, the human traffickers, in sum, the scum of the earth. Remember who they are when you hear that Arizonans want the illegals to go home. Please, also remember, the Arizonans are quite different people from the effete Californians. Californians have already gone belly-up, and the Aztlan invasion has already generally succeed. Don’t expect Arizona to follow suit.

Wouldn’t work. Driver would be charged with smuggling or transporting of illegal immigrants. His butt would be in the slammer.

EVEN the threat of enforcement works!

Don’t get too optimistic, they’re just going to other states, mainly to Nevada and Texas.

AND Honduras alone is sending us 500 per DAY!

El Heraldo (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) 7/8/10

Seventy-one Central Americans detained

Mexican officials reported yesterday (Wed.) that law enforcement personnel had detained 71 “undocumented Central Americans,” almost all Hondurans, who were traveling “clandestinely aboard the exterior of a freight train” in Acayucan, state of Veracruz. Sixty-five of the detainees are Hondurans, 3 are from Guatemala, 2 from El Salvador and 1 from Nicaragua.

El Heraldo (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) 7/2/10

Some 500 Hondurans emigrate daily to the US

San Pedro Sula, Honduras – At least 500 Hondurans leave daily for the US to seek “the American dream,” according to the regional human rights commission. The commissioner of the organization said that monthly, about 15,000 leave the country in search of jobs in the US. However, most of them are deported back, he added.

This has become interesting to watch. People I never knew were illegal are preparing to flee. They believe the hype by the press about how racist it’s going to be...they can’t be convinced there is not going to be a lot of difference. They think they’re going to be pulled off the street and shaken down for their papers...when that’s not the intent of the law.

If there’s fleeing going on, it’s because of the bad press, not a law.

Imagine that, self-deportation really does work and it doesn’t even cost the Feds much of anything except their credibility.

Worth repeating. I think adding asset forfeiture (the same as the drug war) to fight the remaining pockets of resistance would effectively flush out the rest.

Bill White, former mayor of the Sanctuary City of Houston is running for Governor of Texas. He probably wishes they would all come here to get on the voter rolls for him.

BillT, I truly love the idea of a tent city on the White House lawn - especially if a couple of MS13 folks are part of the grouping - I think they are misunderstood, downtrodden and only looking for a little love

That’s the reality. There are many honest and good working folks. There’s no excuse, and you can’t blame ‘racism’ for breaking the law.
