Pelosi: Unemployment Checks Fastest Way to Create Jobs
Unemployment benefits are creating jobs faster than practically any other program, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday. fox news
Unemployment benefits are creating jobs faster than practically any other program, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday.
Talking to reporters, the House speaker was defending a jobless benefits extension against those who say it gives recipients little incentive to work. By her reasoning, those checks are helping give somebody a job.
"It injects demand into the economy," Pelosi said, arguing that when families have money to spend it keeps the economy churning. "It creates jobs faster than almost any other initiative you can name."
Pelosi said the aid has the "double benefit" of helping those who lost their jobs and acting as a "job creator" on the side.
"It's impossible to think of a situation where we would have a country that would say we're not going to have unemployment benefits," Pelosi said.

Is she insane? (don’t answer that)
Okay, this should be enough for people to recognize: the woman is not merely stupid, she is insane. Elect people to put her in the backbenches if SF won’t replace her with at least a sane leftist.
Hi, My name is Nancy, and I have some snake oil for sale which, when you take it, will give you 72 Virgins and a job!! How good is THAT!?”
INSANITY is actually believing a single word that comes out of that idiot’s mouth.
The FASTEST way to create jobs is to cut taxes so businesses can afford to HIRE instead of FIRE. But then you don’t get your corrupt cut out of it them DO you Nancy? (*Walks away and grumbles about political sluts running the nation*)
Just when you think Joe Biden is the champion of elected Democrat idiots, Nancy Pelosi opens her mouth with yet another inanity.
meanwhile in the real world we are losing 500,000 jobs a week.
Mentally ill.
This creature should be committed to an asylum.
From Mrs. “We have to pass the bill so we can find out what is ion it” this does not surprise me at all. Pelosi is mentally ill.
What an idiot.
We need to see that SHE IS UNEMPLOYED!
trickle-up economics.
insane as it is...it’s what they truly believe in.
most folks I know are using their unemployment just to keep their homes and autos.
So just who ends up with that UI $$$$???? the same banks that the taxpayers just bailed out!
Saying the more people laid off the more jobs are created is NUTS.
1.2 million long-term unemployed screaming about benefits being cut off. This is not counting the other millions currently still on welfare. This also doesn’t count the unemployed that do not take welfare or whose welfare benefits have run out.
13,000 new jobs created last month. Only 260 new jobs per state.
Just over 1% of the 1.2 million facing welfare benefits ending, got jobs. THIS is the FASTEST WAY to create jobs, Nancy? I don’t think so.
Okay. Somebody please tell me this is a joke!
If this was true, Nancy, Biden would never have had to come out and say “We’ll never get those 8 million jobs lost in the Great Recession.”
Democrats busy creating jobs.
At least we now know what job creation numbers they have been counting.
“Is she insane?”
No, she’s following what was once, and probably still is (I really don’t know, as I don’t keep up, for the obvious reason that economists are generally bad writers), part of orthodox (i.e. crappy) economic theory. Whereas the great French economist (yes, there were such people once) Jean-Baptiste Say declared (correctly) that “Supple creates its own demand,” the so-called “New” Economics of Lord Keynes and Co. went with the opposite. Now (or then) we are (or were) to believe that demand creates its own supply. Which is stupid, but what do you expect.
I’d like to send out invitations to illegals and unemployed people to set up tents on her property. They could knock on the back door and ask for food.
Ross Perot was wrong - that giant sucking sound was coming from Nancy Pelosi’s cranium.
I should add that Keynesians never put it the way Pelosi did, for obvious reasons.
