Rand Paul Wont Say How Old the Earth Is
Charles Johnson
The Lizard Annex 6-28-2010
From PageOneKentucky.com, heres a video of GOP candidate Rand Paul addressing a convention of Christian homeschoolers, and dodging a question about the age of the Earth.
The questions asked by the homeschoolers in the video: 1) are you a Christian, 2) how old is the Earth, and 3) will you let the UN take our children. Yep, really. And these are the teachers asking these questions. Theyre raising a generation of kids who are ignorant anti-science fanatics, afraid that the United Nations is going to come and kidnap them. Good grief.
Did he dodge the question because hes a creationist and he knows that he shouldnt reveal it for political reasons, or because hes not a creationist and he knows he shouldnt reveal it for political reasons? Either way, this is very sleazy behavior.
My opinion: I think he probably is a creationist, just like his father Ron Paul, because his world view matches the creationist world view in every respect.
As I recall, ‘kind’ is genus, not species as some people try to stress.
But I'm not going to be offended if Rand Paul refuses to repudiate my own beliefs, y'know?
“Genus” and “species” are man-made constructs superimposed on the biblical kinds, so be careful about applying your assumptions in the wrong direction. IE, assuming that present knowledge is correct and has to be applied to what is stated in Genesis.
Christian schools teach that Christianity is truth.
Catholic schools teach that Catholicism is truth.
Jewish schools teach that Judaism is truth.
Muslim schools teach that Islam is truth.
Government schools teach that Government is truth... :)
You can’t expect anything different. And I agree,
government schools are inherently anathema to our founding principals for this very reason.
And Parents, given the choice, try to select for their children that school which they believe teaches the Truth.
Except for the Government Schools. There you get whatever the Government decides to dish out.
Government schools, like Satan himself,
operate under the assumption of the “neutral” or the “default”.
Greatest lies ever perpetuated are
Satan fooling humans to believe he doesn’t exist,
and liberals fooling parents into believing Government schools are ideologically neutral.
I hate your posts. They leave me little to add but, “Wot ‘e said!!”
Do you think every species was represented on the ark or perhaps every genus?
As you said, the word ‘kind’ is in there for a reason.
~~~~~~~~
That one is easy: God dictated/wrote Genesis, so the 'days of creation' were His days (however long that happened to be) -- not 'man's days' (one rotation of this insignificant, created ball of mud). To claim anything else is the utmost in sinful hubris.
To quote a prominent FReeper.
"Man is not the measure of God".
(Note: The above theological statement has zero to do with Darwin or his 'theory' .)
I respect, though disagree with, Old-Earth Creationists.
But I’m not going to be offended if Rand Paul refuses to repudiate my own beliefs, y’know?
Fatal error in logic!!!
Go re-take Freshman Logic 101, please.
Any “problems” you see with radiometric dating (and starlight for that matter) are immaterial that when discussing the age of the Earth you seem willing to discuss various forms of revealed knowledge, but don't even mention actual physical evidence as any sort of guide to ascertain the answer.
Once again, an assumption that all species were created ‘special’ a few thousand years ago is not a productive assumption that leads to discovery and use. The theory of evolution and common descent of species is of use and does create value.
Thus even if there is a big demographic homeschool push to not learn modern biology in some regions of the nation, biological science including evolution will continue to be taught practiced and put to use in our schools, universities, and our innovative biotechnology industries (which are the best in the world).
Only 20% of all Americans believe that the schools should teach Evolution-Only. And they typically breed less children than do Creationists.
Ergo, remove the Subsidy that Evolutionism receives from Government Schooling, and the Free Market will respond to simple Demand.
This will, happily, tend to eliminate Evolutionism from all school-teaching in due time.
CC asked me to ping the list to this post about Rand Paul.
All the best—GGG
With Ron Paul, we already have one solid Creationist in the House (probably many more, but Ron's fairly open about his Creationism).
With Rand Paul, we may have another in the Senate.
Those who learn biology can practice their trade and produce value.
Those who fail to learn biology and learn creationism instead find no market for their ‘skills’.
The Free Market has decided. Biology is of use and can get you a job. Creationism is of no use and nobody hires a creationist to do creationism because it is not a productive assumption.
You got an actual source for your statistics?
School boards that introduce creationism, even in conservative strongholds, get thrown out of office by the voters.
Au Contraire. Evolutionism receives an enormous annual subsidy from Taxes paid by Creationist parents, to support Evolutionist government schools.
Subsidize something, and you'll get more of it.
Eliminate the Subsidy (and for that matter, the Taxation-Disadvantage upon Creationists), and you'll get less of it.
Basic Economics.
Ergo, remove the Subsidy that Evolutionism receives from Government Schooling, and the Free Market will respond to simple Demand. This will, happily, tend to eliminate Evolutionism from all school-teaching in due time.
He could have just said Generation of Vipers.
