Militants linked to Al Qaeda are building fortified bun-kers in the Algeria and Mali areas of the Sahara desert to shelter militants from air attacks, security experts claim.
The members of Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb have hidden themselves in the desert without any notion of national boundaries, according to the experts. We have different verifiable reports which enable us to state that AQIM is currently in the process of building shelters, or bunkers, in which to hide against attacks in the desert shared by Mali and Algeria, a Malian source told Middle East Online, reported AKI.
There is no doubt these people are giving themsel-ves a means to their ends, the highly-placed official in Malis northern operational command, added. An official from one of Malis neighbours confirmed the reports, saying, The terrorists are building fortified bu-nkers in mountain areas bec-ause they fear coming under air attack. Some have alr-eady been constructed in Mali and Algeria, and others have been started along the Niger border.
Well-organised and highly mobile, the local Al Qaeda group is considered by ma-ny to be unassailable in the Sahara, but the countries where they operate have recently been offered assistance from France and the US. Experts stress that aircraft are vital to track them down. I think they are worried at the prospect of every country in the region joining in a widespread conflict, hence their decision to take counter measures, former Malian defence minister and intelligence chief Soumeylou Boubeye Maiga said.
I was misinformed.
If we’re going to drop any ordnance on Mali, I hope we save one for the home of that phlegmwad Malian referee that disallowed our goal.
While carpet bombing has its charms, I think a thermobaric weapon detonated just inside the entrance of each bunker would be much more effective.
that is why the National Socialists worked well with Islam they are united in hatred. Today you can see Islam still holds on to the Nazi views quite literally.
Crispy Qaeda would be much better. LOL
I was watching your comment.
Well played...(golf clap)

Warden Message: Segou (Mali) Kidnapping Threat
CONSULAR AFFAIRS BULLETINS
Sub-Saharan Africa - Mali
13 Aug 2010
U.S. Embassy Bamako released the following Warden Message on August 13, 2010:
The U.S. Embassy in Bamako is issuing this Warden Message to warn U.S. citizens of reports of a kidnapping threat against Westerners in Segou from the Islamic extremist group Al-Qaeda in the Lands of the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). Accordingly, the Embassy recommends that U.S. citizens defer non-essential travel to Segou.
U.S. citizens who are currently in Segou should maintain good personal security practices and remain aware of their surroundings at all times, including always locking their homes and cars, varying routes and time of travel, and avoiding drawing attention to themselves. When going out, they should avoid being part of large, highly visible groups of Westerners, and should be particularly alert when frequenting locales associated with Westerners.
