"He said the violence last weekend, 54 people shot, 10 of those people dead, shows the need for the city's handgun ban to remain in place."

Uh, because it's working so well, right?

The mayor said...the violence last weekend, 54 people shot, 10 of those people dead, shows the need for the city's handgun ban to remain in place.

Because, obviously it's doing a great job!

Mayor Daley Preps For Supreme Court Gun Ban Ruling

Thanks for reminding me to prep for it, also. Pick up some beer . . . maybe stop by my gunshop in the suburbs . . . .

Yep! That gun ban is essential to holding the increase in the level of violence in Chicago to no more then 300% per year...

It works....why fix it?..../sarc

I read on another thread that the ISRA is prepping a Civil Rights action against Mayor Daley, something that would strip him of his Immunity and hold him personally liable for willfull violations of Civil Rights under False Color of Authority. In short I believe they're readying an action under 18USC242.

The thought of Daley being led away in handcuffs by Federal Marshalls is a beautiful thing.

Daley has such limited insight as to the problem that it is truly astounding that he can walk and talk.

“I’m still optimistic they’re not gonna overturn it. I think it’s getting into the state’s ability to govern themselves, but we’ll be prepared for that,” said Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis.”

I wonder how many other constitutional protections are seen as impeding their ability to govern in Chicago?

It pleases me to think of anyone who objects to the Second Amendment being led away for denying that right to U. S. Citizens.

What doesn’t please me as much, is the idea that other less favorable actions might be based on the idea the federal government can step in and do whatever it damn well pleases whenever it damn well pleases.

Today a justified action.

Tomorrow?

And with the twisted logic our leaders exhibit today, they’ll use Daily as an example to justify whatever they want to do.

“You guys didn’t mind last time...”

“54 people shot, 10 of those people dead, shows the need for the city’s handgun ban to remain in place. “

Yep, it’s really working good there isn’t it Dizzy Daley? Maybe you should stop digging?

Yes, another social program for the “disadvantaged” and all those wild, out of control, wild and crazy Amish “youts” in Chicago will do the trick won’t it.

Try rounding up the criminal thugs and throw their butts in prison for a long time, or,....gasp,...try killing a few of the miscreants and see if that doesn’t calm things down.

It couldn’t be the “African Hypen American” “culture” and philosophical ethos of that segment of the population could it?

There are actually a whole lot of people who deserve the killing that they receive.

Ronald Holt said "...we hope that the Supreme Court does not overturn the ruling because the handgun ban in Chicago is still a tool in the shed..."

Sorry Mr. Holt, but that tool is rusty, broken, and needs to be thrown on the scrap heap.

When it comes to the safety of young people in the city, the mayor announced a number of new programs, among them, one connecting curfew violators with positive activities and mentoring.

Try midnight basketball, it's been a program worthy of promotion in the past....

I wish someone would report the number of murders that have been committed in Chicago by individuals who have a valid FOID card. I would be shocked if there was more than 1 or 2 in the last 2yrs. Facts wouldn't matter to Comrade Daley though; it's much easier to appeal to emotion and blame guns and not the thugs that are breaking the law.

Ban black teenage gang members, NOT guns. How ‘bout trying that, Mr. Daley?

54 people shot, 10 dead…in Chicago! In this day and time? This is so contrived it is shameful. Its one thing running a phony dog and pony show in DC for voting in law it’s another to send out mayhem. Daley you better square this up now. I don’t think this will fly on Lester’s watch my friend!

Well, that right there will fix the problem! Why didn't they think of that sooner?

Tax the rich too mayor, that always helps.
