NRO ^ | Daniel Foster

Posted on 06/24/2010 1:46:50 PM PDT by OldDeckHand

The House just passed the DISCLOSE Act, by a vote of 219-206. As with so much in this Congress, the only thing bipartisan about the bill was the opposition to it.

If it had so much opposition why and how did it pass?

I just heard Congressman David Drier say what happened is Congress “auctioned” off parts of the 1st Amendment to the highest bidder. I’m sorry to say the NRA was one of the successful highest bidders. Just shamefull.

"If it had so much opposition why and how did it pass? "

Simple math.

There were 202 votes against, but there are only 178 or so Republican members in the House. Ergo, at least 24 Dems voted against their bill, creating unquestionable bi-partisan opposition to the legislation. Unfortunately, because the dems enjoy such an overwhelming majority, they could afford to weather internal opposition to the bill.

Maybe I’m not understanding this bill, but I don’t see how it could stop the Tea Party because it is not a business. All the Tea Party has to do is send out the word and we the people can send our individual dollars to wherever they are needed, just as we do now.

Union members, he said, are transparent in who they are supporting.

One of the biggest lies ever. Union BOSSES are clear about who gets union money and to hell with what the members want.

I believe that the Republicans have to make their last stand and forcefully.

The Tea Party is holding their feet to the fire in order to keep this Administration from doing a Hugo Chavez on this country.

I feel comfortable in the belief that there are more Patriots in our Republican Party than turncoats, and those turncoats are on notice.

Because there is a Democrat majority in the House, even the Democrats that voted against the Bill and sided with the Republican minority were not enough to overcome that majority, things will be different from November on.

OK...... this puts a large number of member lists in government hands, and I think, subject to the FOIA.

That said; I want member ship lists from

ACLU
SPLC
CPUSA
WWP
SDA
DSA
Black panthers
Code pink
Cair
NAACP

Please feel free to add others.

Screw the NRA, they are akin to the AARP. How many of their members are also tea party members, from the stickers I have seen at rallies, I would say allot. So the NRA just pulled an AARP on many of it’s members!

No big surprise there...Methinks Cao is done, stick a fork in him...He’ll lose his seat back to a Dem more than likely...That would not surprise me there either...

I am not advocating this, but how much more of this shit can we take, until there’s armed uprising (again,I’m not advocating it, but my GOD how much more can we take)???

Why not advocate it? It's the only thing that will save our Republic at this time. We are currently fighting a war against socialist RAT bastard demoRATs in the WH, House & Senate AND the Courts, and by & large we are losing 90% of the battles, even though a majority of the country professes to be conservative. It is long past time for a violent bloody American Revolution II if we ever hope to regain our country, throw out every law of the last 150 years or so, and get back to our original U.S. constitutional form of limited & restrained federal government and only the first 10 amendments. Others will only be added as necessary under process for adding new amendments.

Will the 41 Repubs in the Senate stand against this bill? Or will be looking at the traditional Olympia Snowe-Susan Collins-Scott Brown trio of RINO traitors to sell out on this as usual?

I don't know. I thought the primary had already been contested with Castle winning. Perhaps not.

This has to be one of the worst pieces of legislation I’ve ever seen, and that’s saying something. Lately we’ve seen some real whoppers.

People(I was one of them) often criticized Bush for never vetoing a bill while the republicans were in charge of the CONgress. When is 0bama going to dust off the veto pen? I know this would sure as hell be a great place to start, if he’s going to.

Just heard her on Levin , he endorses her , if that matters . She is against DISCLOSE , and sounded conservative IMHO, as much as you can tell from a few minutes .
