There are reports of unusual ground shaking in various parts of Ontario and Quebec, including Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal. The Toronto newsroom of The Globe and Mail shook just before 1:45 p.m. EDT. The Ottawa newsroom was evacuated at about 1:43 p.m. Various reports on Twitter suggest the earthquake was felt as far away as Ohio, New York and Michigan. A Globe reporter in Montreal said that city also shook. The earthquake shook buildings in Ottawa, where the streets are crowded with office workers who evacuated their workplaces. We felt the building shake. It was actually it was pretty serious. It was definitely the strongest quake that I ever felt, said Dennis Choquette, a Globe and Mail online editor based in Ottawa. The shaking lasted about 15 seconds, Mr. Choquette said. The severity of the earthquake is not yet known. It is not yet known whether there have been any reports of injuries.

Where did you find that?
How long until we have “I Survived the Great Quake of 2010” T-shirts?
A good story, but that sounds more like a story from San Francisco in the late 60’s!
Yep, and getting error messages after posting at times as well... :-(
I sometimes give that some thought too, but if you’re living on beachfront, I may be living under 200 feet of water. ;^)
Gurgle!!!
There’s the largish one in Canada . . . I doubt that one’s big enough to have been felt in Baltimore.
Seems like they are quite slow in putting anything up for Ohio etc.
San Fernando valley 1977
Definitely felt it here - just SE of Grand Rapids. It wasn’t too strong but, having lived for 20 years in California, I know one when I feel it.
“I actually got a little ticked off, I thought workers were screwing around.”
Funny you say that I was with my manager in his office on a phone call, he first thought I was shaking his chair, then we noticed the monitors and the book shelves shaking too LOL.
WOW.
Incredible.
It doesn’t appear to go into the Gulf . . . unless there are some faults missing that folks just haven’t connected with it, yet.
Interesting since I’m SW of GR as well and those of us in the house here didn’t feel it.
“low shaking, pretty much all the time”
Didn’t know that, thanks for the info
I live in Toronto - and I certainly felt it - the room shook, my computer monitor actually swayed back and forth - and my rabbit (upstairs) began thumping loudly and madly to show his fear. It lasted approximately 15-20 seconds. When I stood up, I swayed in concert with the waving room. I did hear a sound precede the shaking, sort of a muted growl. I thought there had been an explosion outside, then realized it was an earthquake - so very rare here.

How about a massive sink hole instead?
I live only 40 miles from the White House and "The Hill" and would rather not get nailed here.
A large sink hole could eat up the entire mess there and do the same good.
Not small here in the Midwest. The substrata here is completely different from out west and quakes are felt for hundreds of miles at what seems like greater intensity.
Ok, that would work. ;)
Good point and one that has to be made quite often. If/when New Madrid does cook off? Everyone from StL/Memphis/Jackson/ will be hanging on to their ass. Their assets as well. And pity the poor gamblers in Tunica...
Sorry, if you have to ask if it counts you can’t cross it off.
