Breaking: General Stanley McChrystal tenders his resignation

A senior Capitol Hill source tells me that General Stanley McChrystal had tendered his resignation to President Barack Obama and that the White House is actively discussing a replacement who could be quickly confirmed by the Senate.

The source said that among the names being touted as possible successors are General James Mattis, the outgoing head of the US Joint Forces Command and due to retire after being passed over as US Marine Corps commander, and Lieutenant General William Caldwell, commander of Nato’s Training Mission in Afghanistan.

Of course, offering to resign is not the same as actually resigning and it remains to be seen whether Mr Obama will accept the resignation.

Obama = Carter’s economic misery and LBJ’s failed war effort.

What a combo.

Post resignation, McCrystal could be a real thorn in Barry’s side.

I can see a Weekly WH Wimp Report in his future.

“This was all calculated!”

This is what a number of people, myself included, feel happened. Gen. McChrystal had to complain publicly to get the 10 minute talk with Obambi the first time. This was probably the only way to get his and America's attention this time. It's a shame that a good man's career is going down the tubes this way.

An hour after announcing his resignation he should hold another press conference and announce that he is running for President

Or at least announce that he has signed a book deal.

IMHO, the article does more to promote Hillary, while tearing down all others associated with the power structures in southern Asia. The style of attack strikes me more of a Hillary styled international socialist written attack.

I think it’s becoming clear that the general was set up.

The things said in the article are hardly that bad when read in context, and in fact on not the words of the general.

Still, I think the man was betrayed.

No the man was set up. Clearly he was duped by the rolling stone reporter in to thinking the article would be a true telling of life there.’

The intent was to undermine the general and give Obama another chance to play to his base....as the”kick ass president”.....

"...as the”kick ass president”..."

Are you kidding me? The comments make Obama out to be disconnected from what is going on in Afghan. Several people I know in uniform that voted for Obama are saying, out loud, what a terrible Commander-in-Chief this guy is (Finally coming to terms). Those are votes he won't get in 2012. Believe me, there are millions who are thinking the same thing right now, which is why the White House is in panic mode over the article.

If Congress grants McChrystal his resignation, that is a very respected and uncontrollable (From a political standpoint) loose cannon that is directly aimed at the Obama Administration. Sec. Gates is officially countered if the resignation goes through. The idiot Gates will be on full display if McChrystal decides to really break his silence, which I hope he will.

Everyone should read the RS article very carefully — then tell me what McCrystal said that was objectionable. You won’t find anything. All these “poor judgement” comments come from those surrounding him.

I’m amazed at the positive comments coming from erstwhile conservatives about this guy. He was in Onada’s pocket from the the gitgo.

Having said that, something happened to cause him to have an epiphany of sorts. Although why he chose Rolling Stones magazine for him and his staff to vent is beyond me. Perhaps he thought it was the only media junk the Usurper Onada and his band of angry commies reads.

I look forward to reading the real story if it ever comes out.

In the meantime adios to McChrystal and don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

I suspect The Marxist Onada will be more careful about who he selects to carry his water. That will not be good for the troops or America.

It won’t be necessary for another general to tell the world what an incompetent leader is Obama. The entire world had it figured out long before this general gave the Rolling Stone interview.

The General demonstrated low moral character, poor judgement, and complete stupidity by voting for the known Mooslime, Commie, Chicago thug, doper, who isn’t even a Natural Born Citizen. He doesn’t belong in the military.
