Time author on CNN stated a WH source told him that McChrystal has submitted his resignation, but Obama has not yet accepted it.

The Second U.S. Civil War breaks out when Confederate forces seize federal military bases...
Looks like I'll be moving west soon!
The original source is the May issue of the magazine "Israel Today"; a link to a PDF version of the magazine is at the magazine's website: http://www.israeltoday.co.il/Portals/0/May2010.pdf.
The article in question is on page 12, and is entitled Obama and the Muslim Agenda. The relevant quote appears at the bottom of the first column, and continues tp the top of the second:
My wife Rachel, who monitors Arab language broadcasts for Israel Radio, picked up a revealing statement on the Round Table Show on Egypts Nile TV. Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit said he had a one-on-one meeting with Obama, who told him that he was a Muslim, the son of a Muslim father and stepson of Muslim stepfather, that his half-brothers in Kenya were Muslims, and that he was sympathetic to the Muslim agenda. He asked the Arabs to show patience. Obama promised that once he overcame some domestic American issues (like healthcare reform), he would show the Muslim world how he would deal with Israel.Pro-Arab, so-called Christian presidents are one thing. But how concerned should we be if the US President is a Muslim who is loyal to the Muslim agenda to isolate and weaken Israel? When the Palestinians talk about nothing but war with Israel and its annihilation, and the president of what was our strongest ally backs their demands for a state with Jerusalem as its capital, and adheres to the same faith, should we not be warning the American public?
Also, it is no coincidence that this article is in the issue on the stands at the beginning of summer — when the Kandahar offensive is scheduled to really get going.
It is open sabotage, if that is not an oxymoron.
Perhaps Mitchell saw the future of the nation, and the lives of the members of the US military, as more important than his career.
I don’t see things hitting the fan to extent that a president would be forced to choose a Grant or a Patton today. Too many rough edges. Smoking cigars, drinking whiskey and slapping soldiers? Not in today’s PC Army. Those guys are removed long before Colonel today.
Especially a staff that has spent a few months (on the average) in a muslim country with no girl-flesh visible, and no beer or booze or clubs.
Match, meet fuse. Human nature. ANd a bunch of wild “snake eater” types like SEALs and fighter pilots?
What did they think the reporter would see? Mother MaCrae’s Ladies Tea Party?
It’s coming.
We should have listened to the Russian generals who said it was insane to wage war in Afghanistan.
Perhaps Mitchell saw the future of the nation, and the lives of the members of the US military, as more important than his career.
And Mitchell was right - when asked at his court martial who would attack us, he said the Japanese at Pearl Harbor [from the air]. When asked when, he said that he did not know the year - but he'd expect it early on a Sunday morning ...
Hopefully it won’t come to civil war, but if it does I live in Utah, the most Republican state in the Union, with the Rocky Mountains at my back, the desert in front of me, and lots of well armed patriots all around me...
So go ahead Feds, make our day!
Perhaps he could have been more effective working with people like Benny Foulois instead of against them. His good friend, Hap Arnold, who put his own career in jeopardy trying to save Mitchell, wrote that after his court marshal Mitchell himself warned him away from the antagonistic methods that he (Mitchell) had been using. It appears Mitchell finally recognized his antics were counter productive.
He knows the rules...name and town, name and town, name and town, if he wishes to opine...
The look on McChrystal’s face in that photo is rather amusing... I’m sure it’d be a hit in a “caption this” thread! LOL
It’s like Obama is explaining something very carefully, and McChrystal is looking at him like; “WTF?” Obama looks like a real simpleton in the photo compared to McChrystal! LOL
Yes, but that’s for civilian appointees...doesn’t apply to military..
I regretfully don’t understand the ‘name and town’ bit. Could you elaborate. Thank you.
Interesting problem. The yes-men are going to be hard to avoid if you can't even recognize them, unless you make it crystal clear that you won't tolerate it so then there's no incentive anymore, but then you risk attracting no-men, which is just as bad. I guess the only right answer is accountability based on what those in the chain below them accomplish, and at what cost. Then they're forced to be reality-based.
That was exactly my take as well. My caption for McChrystal: "WTF? What are you, from the planet Dumb-ass?"
