Vic Rawl Concedes SC-SEN Democratic Primary To Alvin Greene
TPM ^

Posted on 06/18/2010 2:49:24 PM PDT by Chet 99

Former South Carolina judge and ex-state legislator Vic Rawl has officially conceded the Democratic primary for Senate, after he had attempted to contest his upset loss to unemployed veteran Alvin Greene.

Rawl had originally insisted that there were irregularities or errors in vote-counting in his loss to Greene. A more common explanation has been that both candidates were unknown, and Greene's 60% victory owed something to his name having been listed in the first position on the ballot. And last night, the state Democratic Party upheld Greene's win, despite the embarrassment and scandals surrounding his arrest last fall on an obscenity charge.

In his statement, Rawl thanks his supporters, and announced that he will not further contest the result: "We hold our heads high, and know that the friendship of people like you is far more important in life that the outcome of any election."

I have to say, I’m a bit disappointed that the Rats didn’t fight on in SC. They would have alienated the black vote for at least a decade. All we need is for African-Americans to either not vote in a statewide race, or vote third party, and we win.

Just imagine how Rawl feels losing to this fellow that can’t create and verbalize a five word sentence. If this isn’t a “throw out the incumbents no matter what” statement, I don’t know what is.

Yes, and I think the GOP better not take this one lightly. It would be easy to make fun Greene but that could backfire.

Can you imagine Greene and Franken on the same committee?

I think Franken always has green while he is sitting on a committee...

Yes, it is. Lots of people have made the same comment on FR, but none have given a definitive explanation of how voters knew Greene was black when he had no ads and gave no interviews.

Excellent point (things that make you go hmmmmm...)

Sorry, Vic, but you were just too melanin challenged to beat out a whacked out candidate from the Planet Zombie.

Good gosh. Can you imagine how big Franken's head would get? He would no longer be the dumbest guy in the room. Well...maybe not.

Actually there have be studies, you’d be shocked how many people vote for the first name on a ballot.

Michael Jordan is a psych prof at Francis Marion University. No idea what his politics are, though.

They should indeed (they elected John Edwards, didn’t they?), but Greene was elected in South Carolina.

If this isn’t a “throw out the incumbents no matter what” statement, I don’t know what is.

Except Rawl is not the incumbent. Greene and Rawl were competing to go up against the incumbent, DeMint.

“Just imagine how Rawl feels losing to this fellow that can’t create and verbalize a five word sentence.”
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Actually he CAN create a five word and even longer sentence and SOMETIMES can verbalize it. He is not the retard that so many think he is, I am convinced his IQ is average or above. He DOES have a mental problem of some sort though. He is very slow at verbalizing but that alone does not prove a low IQ. I have known at least one real genius in the past who was slower at verbal responses than Greene, most people upon meeting him would tend to think he was as dumb as a rock. At least one person of FR has referred to Greene as a “Rainman” type. That may be close to being an accurate description, I am not sure.

I DO think he is probably a reverse of Barack Obama, Obama at first can seem like a very intelligent person and many are convinced that he is but to most of us the more we see of him the lower our estimate of his intelligence goes. I suspect that if people got to know Alvin Greene their estimate of his IQ would rise considerably but they would find him to be a very strange individual indeed. I would love to see something that Greene has written, I think that would reveal a lot about whether my impression of him is correct.
