EXCLUSIVE: Alert Issued for 17 Afghan Military Members AWOL From U.S. Air Force Base
Fox News ^ | June 17th, 2010

Posted on 06/17/2010 3:59:12 PM PDT by TaraP

A nationwide alert has been issued for 17 members of the Afghan military who have gone AWOL from a Texas Air Force base where foreign military officers who are training to become pilots are taught English, FoxNews.com has learned.

The Afghan officers and enlisted men have security badges that give them access to secure U.S. defense installations, according to the lookout bulletin, "Afghan Military Deserters in CONUS [Continental U.S.]," issued by Naval Criminal Investigative Service in Dallas, and obtained by FoxNews.com.

The Afghans were attending the Defense Language Institute at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. The DLI program teaches English to military pilot candidates and other air force prospects from foreign countries allied with the U.S.

"I can confirm that 17 have gone missing from the Defense Language Institute," said Gary Emery, Chief of Public Affairs, 37th Training Wing, at Lackland AFB. "They disappeared over the course of the last two years, and none in the last three months."

Each Afghan was issued a Department of Defense Common Access Card, an identification card used to gain access to secure military installations, with which they "could attempt to enter DOD installations," according to the bulletin. Base security officers were encouraged to disseminate the bulletin to their personnel.

Your suggestion is still valid. They’ve been disappearing for 2 years, up to 3 months ago but it is just NOW making the news.

>>>Anyone have a tally of the refinery and similar fires and explosions in the US over the past two years?<<<

Good question. They must be salivating at the thought of ramming an explosive laden plane or boat into a drilling platform or refinery. Remember word that FBI sniper teams were deployed into the gulf just after the BP explosion? We all know it's coming sooner or later, and letting rogues and illegals banty about our country unmolested is just foolery.

No it might lower some subordinate’s self esteem, and prevent them from pursuing a path to leadership themselves; and therefore deny them the opportunity to be in the position of being incapable of giving orders, but only “encouragement” to subordinates; whose self esteem they want to preserve so they may be able to pursue a path to leadership and so on and so forth.

So in other words, each of them is potentially congressional, senate or presidential material?

Look at the intel Hub’s take on this story

DNI & CIA Chief Predict Terrorist Attack In Next 6 Months

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g0d4aQY45U&feature=player_embedded

Excerpt:
The Intel Hub has also received a report from one of our top military sources that described how the early warning systems on the western seaboard were recently tripped off. After special analysis from the government, foreign subs were identified as the cause of this warning.
A video has also surfaced documenting the sighting of a mysterious periscope off the coast of Florida. This may or may not tie into the four unmanned subs that went missing a few weeks back. These unmanned underwater vehicles were equipped to handle explosives. At the very least, this deserves a second thought.

Announcing two years’ worth of potential terrorists seems odd to me.

Texas Air Force

That got me all excited until I saw it was a USAF base IN Texas.

issued by Naval Criminal Investigative Service in Dallasp> Seems the NCIS needs to get off TV and get back to work.

Of course, they could have all been picked up by now...and as the article says, I suspect immigration issues rather than terrorism.

I have a friend that escaped from Afghanistan in the late 80’s. I asked him the other day (over a couple of beers) what he misses about the place, he said that he would really like to go back someday so he could leave again because nothing has ever made him feel as great as the day he left the place.

Their mugs should be plastered on every billboard, website, blog, etc.!

I'll bet I'll see a copy tomorrow. Either in my email or on the bulletin board in the hallway. Maybe both. And I'm 2 1/2 hours from Lackland.

Oh I hate to think how backed up the traffic will be in the morning.
