I’ve always said the only thing keeping blood from running in the streets is welfare and extended unemployment benefits.
Folks aren’t feeling the real pain but soon will...

Ignoring the fact that companies are not going to hire anyone until the health care debacle is clearly defined. And there’s the matter of taxes and which ones will be extended and which taxes will be increased.
It is unfair to be blaming the unemployed for this disaster.

RE :”
WASHINGTON Republicans and a dozen Democratic defectors in the Senate dealt a defeat to President Barack Obama Wednesday, just days after he pressed Congress to renew pieces of last year's economic stimulus bill. A catchall measure combining jobless aid for the long-term unemployed, aid to cash-strapped state governments and the renewal of dozens of popular tax breaks for businesses and individuals failed to muster even a majority in a test vote, much less the 60 votes that would be required to defeat a GOP filibuster. Now, Obama’s Democratic allies have been forced back to the drawing board in their efforts to pass the measure, which also would protect doctors from a looming cut in Medicare payments and raise taxes on investment fund managers. A new, scaled back version of the measure is likely to be revealed Wednesday afternoon.”
Remember the good old days when Obama would say he wanted something and it would get passed like the original stimulus??? Looks like he has lost control.

The dems are supposed to be for the jobless, but they added so much taxes and spending to an unemployment bill, they made it impossible for even their fellow dems to vote for it.

I suppose I should defer to you on this but it's difficult given the level of hatred you see at street level. These folks don't care about isms. The "street thuggery" is largely driven and encouraged by left-wing notions of "social injustice". They are brainwashed from an early age that they, as the 'victims', are justified in striking out against their 'oppressors'. The left promotes this hatred and contempt for American society.

Whats the end game? What is he trying to accomplish? Revolution? Aid to a foreign power (Islam? Communism?) Martial law and dictatorship? That last one would be his Waterloo! Push comes to shove and Martial law gets declared, and 'Bama would find out quick-time whose side the US Military is on!

I assume that means the GOP hung together. Notice when a RAT goes against the messiah they are "DEFECTORS".

Not politically expedient to extend unemployment benefits or MORE than 99 weeks. Oh what the hell. 99's a stupid number. Move it up to 104 weeks - an even two years.

I thought Obama was supposed to pay for my gas? And your mortgage, but he was only going to help you if you helped him. I suspect most people on FR will not be getting help from His Majesty.

Oh what the hell. 99's a stupid number. Move it up to 104 weeks - an even two years. Again, the bill currently being considered (HR 4213) does NOT add weeks beyond the 99 max. It just moves the eligibility date for receiving benefits to Nov 2010. It is for folks who haven't yet used up their 99 weeks.

With all due respect, weve been doing that too ourselves DECADES before Obama came to Power. Not to say he hasnt expedited the process...exponentially... Shhh... not supposed to say that...it might mess up the Ponzi scheme.

That part was posted further down. 99’s still a stupid number. What is it, “two years, less one month, shalt thou be paid benefits”? Two years is a nice logical number. It’s too long, but it’s logical.
