Even the French think he might be insane

Even when it came to bailing out Wall Street and failing banks, he was an absolute piker compared to people like Hank Paulson, George W. Bush and Timothy Geitner.
That's why he doesn't even make my top ten worst list.
Did he prolong the Great Depression with some of these stupid economic policies? Absolutely, but nowhere near the decade which FDR postponed it by putting these same stupid (and worse) economic policies on steroids.
*sigh* ....30 months to go.
Fillmore was from the Buffalo/Finger Lakes region of New York, a hotbed of abolitionism and home of Fredrick Douglas, probably the leading black writer and scholar at the time.
Taylor, a southerner, actually picked him to balance the ticket in 1848. Much of the backlash against Fillmore was from his own people because he wouldn't do a Lincoln on the whole country which, at the time, was nowhere near ready for a civil war. The south was also not fond of him because they felt they had gotten the short end of the stick in the Kansas-Nebraska Act and other compromises which Fillmore supported.
I don't think he was a great president, but there were few who could have done better given those times.
Same thing with Zero..........
A little pecking order of the worst:
1. Obama
2. Carter
3. Clinton
4. LBJ
5. FDR
6. Wilson
7. Buchanan
8. Truman
All but one of these luminaries have one thing in common. They are the 20th Century all-stars of the Socialist Democrat party.
First commie Prez, put there proudly and with treason aforethoughht by the RATS party. (This is closer to the truth than you think.)
I was thinking more about his reaction to the persistence of the downturn and how both ultimately blamed the citizens for not following their “great ideas”. Both left office under a very similar cloud and attitude. However, Hoover’s cloud was a bit darker than Carter’s. Blaming the people for not conforming to your ideas as the reason for your political failures earns a very low spot in history.
Carter also threw away $40 Billion on “synthetic fuel development”. Anyone remember?
0bama id definitely worse then Carter
You’re right. Woodrow Wilson would definitely have to be in the running.
And the dumbest.
No, I think Carter and FDR did more longterm damage. Of course, there is still time for him to wrest the crown from them...
